Here is a list of all the offensive waiver wire pickup in my league so far this year. (If you count PK as offense)
How deep is your league?
Gould, Robbie CHI PK Tue Sep 12
Baker, Chris NYJ TE
Huard, Damon KCC QB
Gostkowski, Stephen NEP PK
Hall, John WAS PK
Rector, Jamaica DAL WR
Daniels, Owen HOU TE
Wright, Jason CLE RB
Strong, Mack SEA RB
Scaife, Bo TEN TE
Robinson, Koren GBP WR
Watson, Kenny CIN RB
Wrighster, George JAC TE
Rayner, Dave GBP PK
Floyd, Malcom SDC WR
Furrey, Mike DET WR Tue Oct 3
Mostly pickups that were made because of injuries to starting players or just plain desperation. I don't see many players that will be regular starters on any teams in my league. With the excpetion of Furrey and the PK'ers maybe.
Pretty slim pickings if you need offensive help in these league, you either better draft well or make some trades because you cannot build your team off the waiver wire.
There have been 21 IDP pickups and most of them are weekly starters.
I have learned 3 things from looking at this.
1) You should not draft IDP players during your rookie draft because in the long run the rookie draft is the best place you can upgrade your team once the season starts and you can upgrade your defense for the first 6 weeks or so.
2) If you do not like or know how to make trades you better start learning because once the draft is over that is the only option left to upgrade in a dynasty league
3) This is why dynasty leagues can be so frustrating for bad teams, very difficult to improve and takes years of good rookie drafting and not losing older players to retirement, injury or loss of production.
Any input from the sharks?
