So this got me thinking after Jalen Ramsey Jaguars CB comments of give him 6months to train and he could maybe make a hockey team. We've seen guys become two sport athletes before. However watching some of the stuff with NHL fans I feel that both Hockey and basketball fans are the biggest group of complainers and thin skinned. Hockey fans seem to complain about everything no matter what. I guess it comes with the territory as not being as popular as Football Baseball and Basketball but boy are their panties in a bunch over Ramsey's comments. I also feel there's closet racism among hockey fans and feel they'd take it differently if a white athlete said this. I've seen people call Ramsey a thug, wife beater etc. All things he's not. Hey I love a good Free Shoes University bashing as much as others but the guy was a two sport athlete and never had any issues with the law. He's a heck of a player and he said nothing IMHO that was disrespectful. He didn't say he would make a team or be a top player. He said maybe he could.

As for basketball fans there's a lot of them who don't like what's wrong with the league pointed out too them. I've followed the league for yrs and have talked to others about certain issues that were just band aid. A lot of people felt the one and done age rule was gonna cause issues and it has big time. Super Teams forming another huge problem, players flopping all over the place (it's worse then soccer these days), players bulling officials for a call and refs making it, big deals that the owners will then complain they aren't making money now and other changes. Then take in all the fans who aren't diehards to their teams anymore. More of fans of individual players. Wonder how many Cleveland Cav fans became LA Laker fans with LeBron switching teams. People who chose to root for GS etc etc. Sixers fans who are only cheering for the Sixers because of Ben Simmons, Rockets fans only because of Harden/Paul, etc etc. Almost zero team loyalty anymore. But god forbid you bring it up to them they are ready to kill you.

So what say you? Which Sports fans are the absolute worst or you can't stand?

All of them. Pick a sport and every one of the teams' fans in it feel like they are persecuted and entitled. I know, because I'm one of them.

The real answer is Boston, of course.

Pole is flawed.

Golf isn't a sport, I'm not sure baseball should count either.

eta - does hockey even have a "fan base"?

While hockey isn’t as popular in a lot of areas and their overall numbers are less than other sports, the hockey krishnas are a really devoted fan base.

Football. I'm a part of several message boards, including some basketball ones. All the basketball ones, more or less reflect the state of the player relationships in the NBA today. Everyone's friendly with each other, there's some jabbing that goes around but everyone laughs about it.

NFL boards also more or less reflect the state of the player relationships today. Overly competitive, overly personal. Obvious jokes are a direct shot at a fan base and the players on the team. You need look no further than any Pats fan defending a Brady joke.

Was gonna say the same thing.  Notre Dame fans before and after the Michigan game were so obnoxious, but that is pretty standard fare in the big football programs.
We had some U of M punks wanting to fight us in the 3rd Qtr.  We weren't even talking to them.

Basketball. God help you if your argument for greatest _______ ever doesn't involve LeBron.

Just ask ESPN

We can do this by process of elimination:

Baseball - those fans are so old, who cares what they think?

Football - cte is contagious, so its not really their fault

Hockey - There are not enough of them to be annoying

Golf - :golfclap:

Soccer - this one is close.  But, really, its the anti-soccer crowd that is more annoying and thin-skinned. so Soccer is eliminated.

That leaves Basketball as the winner.

Weird example to hang your hockey argument hat on - even if Ramsey qualified it as “maybe” it’s ####### stupid. I assume he was trolling.

And yeah, CFB and not close.

Really it’s all the above.  I don’t think one group is really worse than another.  If forced to choose I’d say college football for the reasons others mentioned.

ND fans are bad but living in Philly I can say PSU fans are even worse especially after the Sandusky stuff happened. Cowboys fans are also unbearable too

I'm not talking specific teams I'm talking as a whole from complaining about rules to anyone making fun of their sport etc.

He's trolling for sure. However the Hockey fans get upset with everything view it as so sacred. Their argument is most of these guys learned how to skate at very young ages. I threw it back at them with the well soccer players have had a ball at their feet since 3 and people think soccer is just that easy. You don't see soccer fans getting upset. Then they started with the outrageous claims NHL players could make the NFL. I said I'd give the American/Canadian Players a shot but the European guys have way less of a shot given the sport is really foreign to them.

Mode of transportation:

NFL - running

Soccer - running

NHL - skating

One of these is natural to all athletes and the other not so much but yeah the Europeans being foreign to American football would be an equal barrier of entry in this hypothetical six month sport hopping. You showed them.

Soccer, and it's not even close. We've got futbol fans who kill players for not winning. It doesn't get any more thin skinned than that.

There are no basketball fans except for maybe 2 cities because the sport is awful and a joke, so you can remove that one.

I mean, as a counter-point, you should know about this guy.

Steeler fans are the worst.  They never lose a game.  It is always something else.  The refs, the weather, the turf, the ball, etc.

I think the heat on the hockey question comes from the fact that a lot of hockey fans played the game at some level - at least in the Northern states and in Canada where most of the vocal fans reside. I think a lot of our passion comes from the fact that many of us still play in beer leagues, maybe played AAA/Jrs at a high level  and know how hard it is to play at a just that high level. I played a lot in college and post college with guys who played at DU(one of the top college hockey schools in the country) and these guys were at another level - and they had 0 shot at the NHL. Even if they had worked out hard for 6 months they had 0 shot to make it even with the head start of having been a college hockey player. I don't think it is closet racism - if Peyton Manning said the same thing he'd get laughed at as well.

I'm pretty sure there are racists in all fan bases.
He's a world class athlete. Whether his skin is white, black, red, blue, green etc., if he trained for 6 months, he might be good enough for a high school team, but that's it.

I bet he'd be better than Robby Benson though.

Exactly, and I'm shocked (sarcasm) that race AGAIN was part of a topic. So ridiculous, old & tired.

Would people be calling him a thug or wife beater though? I've seen numerous fans make those comments about Ramsey and he's one of the guys that has never had troubles with coaches and teammates or the law. Graduated high scores in college as well.

I agree with the rest however many of these people come off as entitled know it alls. That's great you played but that doesn't mean you know more then someone else. Maybe the reason you didn't make it further was because you acted like that and wouldn't listen to coaching.

Doesn't mater he's a world class athlete. Many people refer to blacks as thugs which many people referred to this athlete solely because he's black and plays football. I've seen a ton refer to Ramsey as a thug, wife beater etc and its further from the truth.

If you can't see it you're either ignorant or not aware of your surroundings. You're either part of the problem or part of the solution. Referring to black athlete as a thug is just code for I don't like him because he's black. If a White NFL player said this  people wouldn't be calling him a thug

Did we just win again?

This is too easy.
This is why.  For example, teams in New York win and it's not that big of a deal.  Boston on the other hand will never stop talking about it.  Little brother syndrome, but have it I guess.  The games are super important.
