What would you give up to aquire B Jacobs? (1 Viewer)

I Was recently offered A Fellow warriors first round pick for Jacobs. I am presently in a league that is high on yardage, don't get me wrong TDS are a bonus, but yardage plays a big role. Anyway, A Guy calls me and offers me his first round pick for jacobs. I'm ready to go. First off the guy is 2-6 and last in our league.. Last place. Second..I own Steve Smith and Steven Jackson, whom I would probably keep anyway. Third, This is not a serpintine draft, If I end up picking 1, I pick 11 and so on. I don't see how I go wrong here! Let me Know any downsides you see. PS....Also my second RB For this year is W Dunn or A Green... Tell Me Where I can go wrong.

Thanks

If you don't see any downside what are you worried about?? Just do it then.. Especially if Jacobs is going to ride the pine all year..

I'm in a keep 2 league...

My team went from champs to last place

I traded: Reggie Bush for Jacobs

Why? We aren't a PPR league. Deuce will be around next year it seems. eggie hasnt shown me he knows how to run the ball in the NFL and Jacobs may be a rare non RBBC next year.

Jacobs is a high risk / high reward player as a keeper prospect. If you can only keep 2 players, I think a mid-early first rd pick for him is a great deal for the team receiving the pick (especially if that team has 2-3 players that are very likely to hold as much or more keeper value than Jacobs).

You can only take two players with you into next year, and if you already have two very good keepers, why not bring a bonus early 1st rd pick with them into the new season (instead of just cutting Jacobs... or whomever he potentially would replace should he really look to be a top 15 RB for next year).

Just my thoughts.

I just offered Bulger for Jacobs. Im 2-6 and have no shot. Bulger is keeper eligible for an 8th round pick and Jacobs is for a 10th round pick. I also plan on keeping Maroney (6th rounder). So if I do the deal, I will have Jacobs and Maroney and I have to part with a 6th, 10th and 3rd (rule if you keep 2). If Jacobs wins starting job it will be a good deal. If they draft someone or sign a FA then it was a really bad deal as Bulger has been lights out this year

I offered SA for Jacobs straight up. This was the last year I could keep SA. The other owner is in a similar situation with LT. So part of the plan is to steal his best keeper option for next year. I would also be strengthening my chances of getting LT with the first overall pick. SA's injury has cost me any chance at the playoffs this year so I have no choice but to trade him(if I can) before Sunday's deadline.

well....??? Did the deal go through? Just curious as i have Jacobs and may move him if I got a great offer.

Jacobs has three receptions in his entire career.

He's the goal line back/TD specialist and he only has 4 TD's this season.

The appropriate question should be how much would you pay someone to get this bum off your roster?

Where does this rank on your schtick-o meter?

Pretty low at the moment, but it will hit a fever pitch in the off season after the Giants draft an RB or land an FA. Then it will be a flurry of bashing on a par with what I post about Gates right now. I'm sure you'll get a kick out of it!

I offered Chambers and a 2nd for Jacobs and Galloway in a dynasty league and was shot down
good for him.. that was a bad offer... jacobs is money next year
I would like to hear why you say that. I made the offer since I had WR depth. This is a PPR league. Galloway is 35 years old in a couple of weeks. I cannot imagine how he is worth more then the 2nd rounder and is probably worth much less. Now, Chambers versus Jacobs. I looked up the FBG dynasty rankings to double-check my thinking. Chambers, in dynasty rankings, is listed at 49 by Bloom and 56 by Pasquino in the overall rankings. Jacobs, on the other hand, is ranked 66 by Bloom and 70 by Pasquino. In PPR, Chambers would have an even larger edge. I would like to hear your opinion as to why Bloom, Pasquino, and I are all wrong. We could be, but I would like to know why.

The original poster should trade Jacobs for the first rounder, then use said first rounder to draft Tiki's replacement in next year's draft. ;)

:banned: My original post that was chastized into the assistant coach regime sparked alot of conversation. hopefully these insights helped some of you in some decisions that you may need to make in the future. Thanks for your replies, it helped me, I'm gonna trade him, he wont help me at all this year on my bench!

title says "keeper" not dynasty which makes me wonder how many you can keep.

I think Brandon has a huge upside (as long as) when Tiki retires. However, I'm guarded in that he hasn't shown (or had much chance to) he's an every down back "between the 20s". I expect to see Tiki get some rest and him to be put in a series here or there but the GMen gotta get a division lead and/or big lead in a game to be comfy doing that. For now, I'm holding back the high expectations.

If ya keep 3 or less, I'm guessing that 1st is better than Jacobs or equal to so it'd give ya options that holding onto him wouldn't

I told you it was a tough trade to turn down. But I just don't see any stability at QB in Miami for a long time to come. Culp isn't Culp of old. He sucks. Injury or no injury. Sure, Galloway's older than dirt, but a 2nd rounder in a 12 team dynasty league that keeps 26 players per team is not much of a player outside of a rookie WR to take a flyer on. So I would be trading the likely next starter for the Giants for Chambers and a rookie WR in next year's draft. I think I will take the guy that will get something close to the same amount of carries as Tiki normally gets and is his own goal line vulture. And why do you trust Pasquino? Isn't he like 3-5? And that's after two straight wins. Before that he was 1-5. Just giving you grief Jeff!?!?!

Thanks for your insight, you've been very helpfull!!!!!!!!
I love this. You chime in with a blatant Assistant Coaches Forum question at a little after midnight last night and then whine like a little girl just 2 hours later when no one responds. Helluva social life you got there....And before anyone throws out the pot/kettle emoticon, I'm wrapping up my company's disaster recovery test. Been working since 8:00 a.m. EST. Glad this thing is only once a year. But that's why I get the big bucks. It's not Andy Dufresne money, but it will do nicely.....

I got Kellen WInslow for Jacobs , dynasty league where you need top play a TE .

I dont thonk Jacobs will be the featured back next season ( That is if Tiki really retires )

I'd give up my used bandages collection, but definitely not my set of nude Ernest Borgnine photos.
God I loved those pictures. He is absolutely resplendent in the one on horseback and majestic one where he is spread eagle on the motorcycle. He truly embodies the elegance of the human form.

lol. I do not fault you at all for turning it down. But, my problem was with the poster saying it was a horrible offer. I think this is one of those times where later this year and next year this trade will look totally different. I thought it was a fair offer, but not every "fair" offer is good for both teams.

The shark move IMO is to sell Jacobs now.

I'm nowhere near convinced that Jacobs can be a 25-touch per game guy and hold up over the course of a full season. And more importantly, I'm not convinced the Giants brass believes Jacobs is that kind of RB either. In addition, they have a head coach who relishes having a hammer-back like Jacobs to bring in for specialized duty and get the job done. If Coughlin uses Jacobs as his feature back, he may be hindering Jacobs effectiveness or limiting his availability for the role he most wants Jacobs to fill. I think those who view Jacobs as Tiki's replacement are under-valuing how much Jacobs excelling in his current role means to his team and his coach, and I don't believe they will be so quick to significantly alter it.

I'd be pretty darn surprised if the Giants don't bring in a Michael Turner or a high pick rook to replace Tiki and perhaps while Jacobs' role may expand some more, I don't think he'll be the feature runner that many of you perceive him to be right now.

For those who own him, there is a very limited window to capitalize on Jacobs' elevated 'perceived' value. Seize it now before it's gone for good.

Exactly. At best Jacobs is in RBBC with GL carries next year, at worst he retains his current role.

Third, This is not a serpintine draft, If I end up picking 1, I pick 11 and so on. Thanks
Are you sure you have this right? I have never heard of a league that trades draft slots? Whats the fun in that??If this is true, then he would lose this one big time. Not be able to draft this year for brandon Jacobs in a keep 2 league...Otherwise, you guys are trading Jacobs and swapping draft positions???

The problem with Jacobs is that I could easily envision Coughlin either drafting or signing another quality RB to split time with him next year. I doubt he'll go into next season with essentially the same corps of RB's, minus Tiki. I'm also concerned with his ability to stay healthy over a long period of time given his running style.
