You can't have the most monumental choke in the history of the NFL and think it is better than perfection.

This should be pretty easy. One involves winning the Super Bowl - the other does not.
Yup. Even 11-9 with a superbowl win is better than 18-1.As for which is harder to do? Definitely the 18-1. Doesn't mean it's better.
I think 11-9 with the Super Bowl win would be harder to do  -QG
It is possible for a 7-9 team to make the playoffs by winning their division.
Hell it's possible for a 3-13 team to do the same. but given that no team has yet had the opportunity to play in the playoffs with a 7-9 record, I'd have to say that 11-9 would be the much more difficult feat. -QG

If I recall correctly, the Cowboys came remarkably close to makeing the playoffs with a 7-9 record in...what was it, 1989? 1990?

It's really 17-0 vs 17-2. They were given the Ravens game. Kind of reminded me of the 72 Olympics when the USSR beat the USA in basketball.

We almost had a 7-9 wildcard team in the NFC a couple of years ago.

Just because it's more unlikely doesn't mean it's harder to do. It's incredibly unlikely that I'll win SB MVP by sitting on my couch, but that doesn't mean it'd be hard- all I'd have to do is sit, and I'm pretty darn good at that. Going 11-9 is easier than going 18-1 because you can just mail in 9 games if you so desire.

It's better for the Dolphins to have a 17-0 team in its history.

From my perspective, it's better for the Patriots to have an 18-1 team in their history.
