WHIP and ERA up, K's down, second half brillance of the past is inconsistent. Homers are WAY up, 30 through 5 months, way over the season totals of years past, indicates to me maybe hitters are picking up that change a bit more or he could be tipping it. Or have those that watched him closely seen something else? Kind of a crossroads time for him, he could get a real good deal out of the Twins, but if he slips again next year, could he be risking some cash?

The problem with Johan has been his HRs allowed. I believe he's leading the majors (or at least the AL). Guys are just sitting and waiting to get a certain pitch. From what I've seen, in his good games he's going up and down the ladder. In his bad games, his fastball is not setting up his other pitches.Coaching and mental aspect. Correctable. But if he tanks the rest of the year, I hope the the Twins can get him signed at a Zambrano-like contract. If Johan had won his 3rd Cy Young this year, he may have been the first $30 million a year pitcher in the bigs after 2008.

I looked at his FB/HR stats, and he's definitely putting the ball in the air more (6% higher) with fewer of those being IF popups, but his HR/FB rate has been somewhat unlucky (13%). My guess is it has something to do with the above-bolded.His K/BB, while still exemplary, has slipped as well..

Going through the motions and counting down the days until he is out of a Twins uniform? Off season trade?

He's not happy with management and the trading of Castillo.

He doesn't like that the Twin do nothing in the off season (Cirillo, R. Ortiz, Batista, Sierra, White, Harvey ain't cutting it) while other teams are out there spending $$$.

Let's face it. Pohlad does have to croak of old age before something ANYTHING can happen.

His F!n kids get the team (I'm sure) and there ain't no guarantees that they will do anything different.

Santana wants out.

That was my thought too. He's also pitched in the postseason 4 out of the past 5 seasons

He just hasn't had any success against Cleveland at all this year

relevant stats vs. cleveland this year

INN 38

WHIP 1.13

ERA 4.50

Ks 46

HRs 8

losses 5

Yeah I've noticed the same thing, but I've never seen that stats. I guess he really does struggle when it comes to Cleveland. I guess the Tribe just has his number this year.

His base skills are pretty much the same as previous years. He is just walking a few more guys and, like mentioned above, he is giving up more flyballs and HR's. Unfortunately for him it seems like when he gives up a HR there are usually runners on base. Solo HR's won't hurt you much, but multi-run HR's are tough to deal with.
