His toughness has nothing to do with his availability. A spleen injury isn't something that you tough out, like he did with his broken jaw. Jason Garrett has made it clear that Witten has no say on his spleen. Only the medical staff can clear him, and they're not going to do so unless they're sure the spleen is healed.I traded for Witten two days before his spleen injury. I was banking on Tamme being my backup but he's looked like a dumpster fire and the second TE that Manning looks to. I ended up trading a pick next year for Celek, and I'd rather have Witten sit out a week or two and be 100% than come back gimpy.
