personally, i can't stand reebok's gear. the design and most definitely the fit sucks. tees are too damn long. hoping someone, anyone else comes in when the contract is up in 2010 i believe. just curious to see what others are thinking on the subject.

I went with Nike because they seem to be the most obvious choice. Reebok is doubtful because the NFL will want someone new so people will have to go out and buy new gear.

I would like to see under armor step in. It would be cool to see a new face on the block. Not to mention any company that could provide the unintentional comedy of Steve Spurrier saying "click clack" has my vote.

If they somehow get into the college game and get Lee Corso to say that in a commercial then I would probably pass out from laughter.

I put "other" because we're all losers no matter who it is. Remember how the price of jerseys jumped when Reebok took over? You used to be able to get a jersey for $40-50, then it went to $65 (now $75). $100 is right around the corner...

:lmao: Let's go back to the good old days of allowing teams to choose their own endorsements and players being able to choose their own endorsement. Why does the NFL need an official outfitter anyway? It wouldn't surprise me if the NFL started their own apparel line. With the way they're trying to control every other aspect of how the NFL is run, it wouldn't totally shock me.

Anyone voting for Nike, remember those abominable orange sleeves Florida and Va. Tech wore? You realize you'll be endorsing the Oregon Duck-ification of the NFL, don't you? :loco:

That's a great point. I'm sure it will eventually come to that.

Nolan and Del Rio will have no problems finding a professional, respectful, sharp looking suit to wear.

Nikes got the money if they want it bad enough but I want UnderArmor to win it.

Any company that specializes in athletic clothing vs a broad spectrum of products (shoes/golf clubs etc) is going to produce a better product IMO and their resources can be focused on the uniforms. The Pro's regardless of endorsments seem to wear UnderArmor for the most part anyway which is a sign they perform well.

How about Converse? Then they could make a version of their Chuck Taylors' for the NFL. I'm willing to bet not enough people on this board remember Chucks to make this funny.

Some thoughts from someone in the business who works with the NFL:

- Reebok's contract is up in 2012

- The acquisition by adidas has many believing Reebok will then be out

- The NFL is leaning towards slicing up the pie....giving a contract for jerseys, a contract for outerwear, a contract for headwear, and contract for performance apparel, etc

- Expect NIKE to make a huge push for anything they can get...they have become pretty insignificant in the licensed sports arena

- Expect GIII to make a big push for outerwear, and very possibly get it

- Be wary of Under Armour. They are spending a lot of money on marketing with a product many are starting to question. And the move to footwear? We'll see...

- The sleeper in this....VF. They are the largest apparel company in the world, owning a collection of brands that includes The North Face...a mark the NFL would love to have as part of the onfield family. VF is also the only NFL apparel manufacturer not named Reebok right now. VF also just acquired Majestic, so has an onfield presence with an MLB contract that was just extended to 2014. If they nail the next few years in MLB, expect more to come.

As far as the business model goes, don't expect much to change. Sure the price has gone up, but so has the quality. NFL polos, for instance, are really technical now. Not to mention performance fleece, tek pockets, etc. An the womens offering is 10 times what it was a few years ago. Bottom line is that the business is booming, so the consumer is happy, the retailer is happy, and the NFL is happy.
