That makes sense.Depends on the demo/location of the party
If I'm in a local party close to home I say my city
If I am out of state I say my state
If I'm talking to someone and they are non US I may reply I'm of Portuguese decent.
Pretty much the same except if I'm out of state I will say northeast <state>.Depends on the demo/location of the party

Me too.If in town I’ll say my neighborhood.
If out of town I say Seattle.
You talkin' to me? You talkin' to me? You talkin' to me? Then who the hell else are you talkin' to? You talkin' to me? Well, I'm the only one here. Who do the f*** do you think you're talking to? Oh, yeah? Ok.“Why are you talking to me?”
YepI tell people I grew up outside of Detroit, which is often followed by responses varying from jokes/questions about how bad it was, to the occasional "I'm sorry," as though they had something to do with me living there.
That could be either Freeway or the Fresh Prince.West Philadelphia born and raised
on the playgrounds where I spent most of my days
YepIf it is someone who lives in the same general area, I will say the city I live in (suburb of Detroit). If I am out of State then I will just say Detroit.
Now that I think about, same. I either say “The City” if Im in the tri-state or NY outside of that.If it's in state I say the name of the lake I live on. Out of state I say WI.
Where in madison do you live? We are close. I live off mill rdMaybe it's just me, if I'm outside the region it's often "Tennessee valley"
But that might just be because it's more well received than "Alabama"
Although at times, and my wife's common answer "Huntsville" isn't accurate - but if you answer "Madison" nobody knows where that is, they assume you're from Wisconsin (or one of the other 30 Madison's)
do you show them where you live on your hand?I live in another State so I usually just say I'm originally from Michigan. Most don't know any other city than Detroit so they assume that is where I grew up. It isn't. When I lived in Michigan I just said the city of course.
Although when I lived in Chicago I just said the city, when traveling or visiting family in Michigan, not the State of Illinois. Hmm..
Similar to this - if in my county, I'll say the city. If somewhere else in Northern California, I'll say Marin (county). Outside of NoCal, I'll say "Bay Area". If not on the West Coast, I'll add "San Francisco" to that.Depends on the demo/location of the party

We're basically behind heritage elementaryWhere in madison do you live? We are close. I live off mill rd
Not usually. Sometimes they’ll ask if they know about it and think it’s funny.do you show them where you live on your hand?
Seems that's used every so often in the South, mostly in the sticks.Surprised "County" is still being shut out ... must not be a lot of people from just north of NYC on here
You grew up?I'll ask if they want to know where I live or where I grew up?
Typically I say Oregon. If it's a local deal, I'd say Portland.Random stranger talks to you at a party (well, not now but when we get back to that kind of thing) asks you where you're from. What do you reply?
