They may win only one game in October.

I voted 8 but meant after the bye week.

If they are smart, the start of next season they role reversal the two. Like Cincy did with Palmer and Kitna, they told Palmer he was just going to watch and learn and next year the team was his, I still think it's the best strategy for a QB. Unless you have no one in place like Cincy does now and your just going to be tossing a rookie into the fire.

You need an option for next year - that is what I see as well, unless Jacksonville totally implodes or Garrard gets hurt.

What is Garrard's contract status?
4/7/2008: Signed a seven-year, $62.98 million contract. The deal contains $18 million guaranteed, including a $9 million signing bonus. 2011: $7.975 million, 2012: $8.475 million, 2013: $8.975 million, 2014: Free Agent

I think the folks that think Gabbert will replace Garrard early on aren't taking into account how badly Del Rio needs to win now.

See, I am thinking the opposite...if Garrard wins six games and Del Rio goes into the owner's office, the outcome could be quite different if Gabbert wins six games and he goes into the same office...one shows complacency and mediocrity, the other shows potential (whether right or wrong).

the difference is that there is little chance Gabbart is worth as many expected wins as Garrard this season. Rookie QBs aren't generally close to average, but Garrard is.

Good point. I believe Garrard is quite popular in the locker room as well.
