When will Megatron start scoring like Megatron? (1 Viewer)

Actually, if you consider the other players who were going around the same spots as Megatron in drafts (mid 1st round), Megatron was still a good pick there after week 9, unless you want to argue that guys like McFadden, Chris Johnson or Aaron Rodgers (who wasn't that great early on either) were great picks through early November. In other words, if you hadn't take Megatron where you did, who would you have taken instead? Given the players who were going around the same spot, Megatron was still the best pick, even through week 9 (unless you were happy with CJ2K's dreadfulness early on).
Yes, this I agree with. Compared to the other first round guys, he's been fine. But if he would have stayed on the path he was on through week 9, I don't think he would have been the first WR off the board next year. That would probably be AJ.

Calvin was not worth a first round pick early in the year when you were playing him every week.
 -Megatron only has three games this year where he didn't score or get 100 yards. -Megatron has gone over 100 yards in 8 of 12 games. -Megatron has 5+ catches in 10 of 12 games (meaning, he was still really good in PPR leagues the weeks he didn't score most of the time). If you are gonna get hung up on the three subpar games he had, then have at it, but nearly every first round pick has at least three subpar games (by 1st round standards) this year except Arian Foster. Sure, he only has five touchdowns this year so far, but he has been a yardage and PPR monster, and will likely be the number 1 or 2 ranked WR in most leagues after this week.
Uh, OK.After week 9, Calvin was the 19th ranked WR in my league. If you think that is worth the a first round pick and the number 1 WR off the board, then I'd say you should reevaluate your FF drafting strategy. He came around, and that's awesome. Like I said, I traded for him and I am very happy about it. But there is no way you can say that after week 9 he was worth his draft position.
and a month later he's the #1 WR that has propelled nearly everyone that owns him into the playoffs. In his last 16 games he has 122 receptions for 2,199 yards (137.5 yds/g) and has scored 11 touchdowns. That's INSANE. no one is ever going to be consistently 20+ per week every week...it's the nature of the game. but over the course of a season to suggest that Calvin isn't worth a first round pick is ludicrous. People are just too damned impatient. it's not like he sucked the first half the year...he was still racking up 100 yard games. and he's had 140+ in the last 5 - an NFL record. He's unstoppable and is going to demolish Rice's record. Yeah, I sure wish I had Brian Robiskie instead :lmao:

Yeah, in this day and age of PPR, 5 TD's is not that bad when you are putting up major catches and yards nearly every week. Besides, only three players have double digit TD catches this year, so it's not like there are tons of guys with 10+ TDs while Megatron is lagging the field with 5.

my league gives 5 point bonuses for over a 100 yards, so he's still a freakin' machine without the TD's. I'm in the Superbowl, and the first two picks of Calvin and Marshawn are a big reason. Rock solid..

another game with no touchdowns? what a bum! only 10 catches for 204 yards. loser!
Looks like the Lions have figured things out. More chances for Megatron to score TDs. Finally week 17. Whew. These guys are of top of things. Only took the a whole season to figure it out. Idiots. http://www.freep.com/article/20121226/SPORTS01/312260075/detroit-lions-calvin-johnson-touchdowns?odyssey=tab|topnews|text|Detroit Lions

In last week's 31-18 loss to the Falcons, the Lions ran 12 plays from inside the Atlanta 20 and threw just one pass to Johnson, a third-and-1 incompletion from the 2 late in the fourth quarter when the Falcons brought three extra rushers and left Johnson single covered.

It's been mentioned ad nauseum, but the attention Calvin receives in the red zone is unprecedented. Stafford was clearly unable to exploit the matchups this season like he did in 2011. Had Stafford been more effective throwing TDs to other players, along with the Lions as a team being more effective putting the ball in the end zone, Calvin would have received many more TD opportunities. The Lions had 50 offensive TDs in 2011. They have 36 so far this season, 17 of which are rushing, so they've clearly shown a propensity to hand it off instead of throwing the jump ball to Johnson.
