I guess I've known this for a while, now, looking back, but I think it finally set in that John Lynch is done.
Over the last couple of weeks, I've seen Lynch lay a few hits that reminded me of why I cheered so much for him in the early years at Tampa.
That is the problem, though. I saw those hits in week 16 and it dawned on me that it looked like "the old John Lynch". Once I started saying that, I got depressed and realized I won't be watching him that much longer.
It's funny. I have season tickets and go to all the games. The fans here love John. Partly because of the person and leader he is, but also because of how he plays. I think back to the glory years of the Tampa Bay defense and think it is sad that these people never really got to root for him when he was at the top of his game. These fans will remember him like he is now and not like the Lynch that made me a life-long fan.
