Where are the free agent quarterbacks? (1 Viewer)

There sure hasn't been much news on free agent quarterbacks, has there?

No signings, visits, rumors, or much of anything on available quarterbacks looking for work, or teams calling them.

It's been about 12 or 13 years since the installment of free agency, or about the lifetime span of a proven NFL quarterback.

I think this is a big reason as to why there simply aren't many, if any at all, out there. Jeff George's name even continues to come up at some point every year.

I think we're beginning to see yet another cycle of the "free agency era" take hold on the NFL.

Of course, yes, rookie QBs are pushed into work faster these days, but you'd think there'd be some kind of demand for veterans.

I guess Culpepper has had some looks, but not much. The Raiders have brought back Tuiasosopo? What did he ever do? (Of course, it's the Raiders)

Culpepper must be pretty bad if they chose him instead.

Thoughts?

where is Aaron brooks ?
supposedly he's been blackballed in the NFL. he didn't get any kind of shot at all in Oakland. he played pretty well for the saints. with the demand for QB's it's hard to understand. God knows he couldn't have done any worse than what my Panthers threw out there last year at QB.

Same can be said about offensive tackles.

The cap has gone up so much in recent years, teams can afford everyone, and are only letting guys go if they want to.

Free agency hasn't been real attractive the last two years.

The pool of free agent QBs should grow in the next few weeks. After June 1, teams will start to unload th expensive QBs that teams want to cut. Also, you can add Culpepper to the free agent list.

Laughing and joking on the sidelines after tossing interceptions on national TV will do that to you. He looked like a tool doing that.

Remember that the rule changed, and teams were able to drop two players earlier in the offseason and treat them as post-June 1 cuts. That date no longer has the impact is once had.

I understand. There will still be cuts in June for QBs. TB, NYG, and possibly KC will cut at least one veteran QB. June also coincides with training camp.
