Where do you draft MJD if he is traded? (1 Viewer)

If MJD is traded today (not likely just speculation) to the Lions, Packers or Patriots, where would you draft him?

Let's entertain the discussion. If the staff can write a series of "what if" articles, why can't we pose what if questions on the message board? If he gets traded, I value him around mid to late second. He'll still have all the effects from missed training camp and on top of that, will have to learn a new system. I have him valued there now and he hasn't fallen to any of my teams.

That's the problem...you don't know where he would go, and likely, it is not a place that would "make sense". He could just as easily get traded to Tampa as he could Detroit. I think it is getting to a point where you have to look at him as a third rounder regardless of where he goes (even if he stays). He can't be in tip-top shape, and if that is the case, why would you risk another situation where a guy comes in rusty from a hold out...mind you, not saying he couldn't cobble together 1k rushing and 6-7 TDs, but again, I would not want to throw a first or even a second rounder in that ring.

The Lions would be a perfect fit.
I agree if I were the Lions I would be working the phones right now. Leshoure looks like he cant stay healthy and Jahvid Best is 1 hit away from scrambled eggs as brains. That offense is already scary but can you imagine adding a running game threat also?

If he went to the Lions I'd take him as the #1 RB, seriously. This guy posted moster numbers (#3 RB) last season in Jack. Unlike many teams, Det would utilize MJD's skills in the passing game and give you a combination of Sproles in the passing game and Turner in the running game.

If he went to a team like Wash I'd place him as the #5 RB.

An interesting question is, if you were you're favorite team's GM, what would you give for MJD (if anything at all)?

I'm guessing not much. Team's with really good offenses know they don't need MJD. Team's with bad offenses have bad QBs and aren't going anywhere, so they would be dumb to trade for MJD and pay him.

How would a trade affect MJD's value?

Obviously, that depends on where he goes.

I'd say most places would hurt his value. Obviously DET would be nice. I could see DEN being great (even that would probably hurt). Pretty much every place either has an established guy that isn't getting squeezed out or enough other options to completely muddy the picture.

If nothing else, a trade would mean that he has to learn a new team's system. We should account for that also.

Depends on where he lands.

Detroit, Denver, Pittsburgh, San Diego I put him at RB4

Most other teams RB5 (including if he stays in Jax)

A fourth or fifth round if my team had need at RB. But I wouldn't resign him... so I'd probably face the same holdout situation that Jax faces. Fortunately my team has a good RB, so they probably won't overspend on an aging RB. Unfortunately, my team is already the sort of team that wastes a top ten pick on an RB and they're not very good.

MJD would look great in a Steeler uniform.

I know the Steeler organization would never do this.

I would pick him at #1.

Here is where I don't understand something about the NFL. No fewer than 25 teams should be asking the Jags about a trade right now.

Going to the Lions or Packers would push MJD up to between 4-6 overall in most drafts IMO.

One way to go against the grain this weekend would be RB/RB with DMC/MJD. I just have a feeling these two are both going to be top 5 RBs PPG week to week and possibly even all year long. Both are risky, but talent wise both are with the big three. If MJD gets traded, it would be a coup. He's a steal in Rd 2 if he's the same ol' MJD.

You'd still be able to get solid QBs and WRs later.

DMC

MJD

Roddy White or Jordy Nelson

Matt Ryan or Michael Vick

Percy Harvin or Dez Bryant
