Where have all the good leagues gone? (1 Viewer)

Having played FF now for 17 years, it really is disappointing to me to never be able to find anymore basic scoring leagues. Leagues that score 6 for every TD and award bonus points at yardage increments of 100,150, 200 Ru/Rec and 300 etc for Passing and also use IDP's. Also, what's with all the 10 and 12 team leagues?? 16 team keeper leagues to me are ideal because of the balance it provides(4 teams per division etc). They seem to be a thing if the past, yet for the most part this is the scoring foundation for which FF started.

I realize everyone likes different things for their leagues, and that's fine, I am just disappointed that I can't ever find any decent money leagues to play in online with this type of scoring system. Why?? Am I to old school??

ehhh. who really cares about scoring?its gambling. tell me the rules. lets go. its like saying you only play pot limit holdem and you refuse to play anything else. um, okay? are you there to have fun or beat people down and win money? if you feel that strongly, run your own league w/ that scoring.people get really worked up about scoring. ppr, non ppr. 6 pt td, 4 pt. its all the same crap. edit a few numbers, it spits out rankings/ff pts for your projections. doesn't really change much. its still about projections/rankings/tiers. same goes for poker. its about winning money. the game, ehhh. i dont mind omaha, limit, no limit, sng, tourny. if i cant find any limit games, ill go find something else. people just get too hung up on the details. you're playing against the other owners, not the scoring system. i like crazy systems, because i dont mind drastically altering my rankings. i find a lot of people stick w/ the same rankings regardless of the scoring. so its a nice edge. sounds like you are a big rb rb rb draft guy. because thats what you did since 1991. i like the ppr effect, wrs early, qbs, different tactics. makes it interesting. people dont like change. or to change a winning system. having to learn new tricks usually freaks people out. you should focus on getting into a good league, with good guys, with a great commish. scoring? ehh pretty low on my list. if its a well run league, ill play any scoring.

Then create one.
That's the problem, seems like no one has any interest in these kinds of leagues anymore. Everyone likes all the new age 1pt 10 yards rush/rec etc type of leagues. I have a hard time warming up to those leagues. Any league where a guy can get as many points for 60 yards rushing as they can a TD, just doesn't seem right to me. TD's are the very foundation that football was built on. You don't score any, you probably lose, no matter if your team ran for a total of 200 yds and passed for 400. If you don't get the rock in the end zone, you lose. Why shouldn't Fantasy Football be the same??

Fantasy football is not the same simply because it does not have to be. It can use far more metrics than just the touchdown to determine the score. You are drafting players on their overall ability. In fantasy football, you can make everything and anything count for points. Just because the TD is king in the NFL doesn't mean that fantasy football must follow in kind. That's the sheer beauty of fantasy football. Why else would one be cheering for a player to get 2 or 3 more yards? We ues the performance of players in the NFL, not the teams. That's why we draft players, not teams. If you want TDs to be the main, and only, metric, join a pick 'em league. This is fantasy football. 1 yard matters.

It's too nice to say you're "too old school." That scoring system flat-out stinks. There's a reason no one wants to play with those rules. They are much less accurate at representing incremental performance than what's in use today. I wouldnt go anywhere NEAR a league like that, and I'm probably in the vast majority of players. Even reading about a system where points arent incremented at least every 10 yards makes me cringe. Not only do I not like it, but I resent the fact that someone else would propose such scoring. It makes me not even want to let a player who likes these rules into my league. So IMO, you're WAY too old school. Those rules were always terrible, we just had to deal with them when we used the paper. That's not happening any more, thank God.
