BOSTON (Reuters) - Dom DiMaggio, a seven-times All-Star outfielder for the Boston Red Sox and the younger brother of Hall of Famer Joe DiMaggio, died on Friday, the team said on its website ( boston.redsox.mlb.com ).

The youngest of the three DiMaggio brothers who played in the majors died at the age of 92 at his home in Marion, Mass.

Dom DiMaggio was dubbed the "Little Professor" because of his spectacles and his diminutive frame. He played for the Red Sox for 11 years from 1940-53, missing three seasons while serving in the United States Navy during World War Two.

Joe DiMaggio was a center fielder for the New York Yankees from 1936-51, while Vince DiMaggio played for five National League teams from 1937-46.
