Which Chargers WR, not named McCardell, has the best day (1 Viewer)

I'm not sure yet if SD is going to keep throwing the ball or go back to the run. I have a feeling that the WRs will be most valuable against tough Ds. I think if the running game is able to do the job they will stick with that for the most part. But, if they are forced to throw, then they will.

So, I don't think any of the SD WRs are particularly good options this week.

I think Parker is becoming the No. 1 WR in this offense.
I agree. watching the game sunday, Rivers seemed to looks to Parker often. The knock on parker is he can't stay healthy. The guy has great hands and I see them only getting better. Parker might be a nice option to have for the rest of the season.

I am thinking of picking up Parker this week in my local league, I am in need of some WR help with several WR bye weeks coming up. Anyone else care to weigh in on the value of Eric Parker?

any thoughts on Parkers production here on out?
He will be targeted the most out of the SD receivers, but I don't know how much value he has. SD is a run first team rotating 4 receivers with the best TE and receiving RB in the game. Venturing outside of LT or Gates is going to be very hit and miss.

I'd agree with this. I've always liked Parker and I think he's an under-rated WR. He really had Brees' trust in critical situations and now Rivers is starting to target him more. I don't know if that's a byproduct of McCardell's hamstring injury or what but in the last few games he's definitely been the top WR targeted in the passing game. He's genuinely very sure handed and his punt return skills help him in terms of picking up yards after the catch. That's another thing for Parker - if you're in a league that rewards individual return yardage he is the punt returner although he's not a dynamic one by any means. But that is an additional source of production in leagues like that. Bottom line is I agree that he's a hit or miss option given how this offense is generally about LT and Gates and now Turner's in the mix. But when the matchup is right I think Parker's a nice upside play as a WR3. And I think the matchup is definitely right this week.

I watched part of ESPN's fantasy show yesterday with Jaws, Matthew Berry and some smoking-hot chick named Danni...not a great show but Berry predicts 100 yards and a TD out of Parker this week, FWIW.

Danni won Survivor a couple seasons ago. She was in sports broadcasting, and I guess she was able parlay her Survivor win into something on E! SPN

Parker will have the most catches and yards.

V.Jackson is the most likely to score a TD.
just a hunch here MT? Floyd seems to be getting more RZ looks than VJ
It's not a guarantee, of course, but it's based on my perception of the playing rotation. According to FBG, Jackson and Floyd have each gotten exactly one look from inside the red zone. They've also each had eight targets overall. But my perception is that Jackson is on the field more often. (He's also been targeted on several plays that should have been touchdowns, in addition to his actual touchdown.)

I'm starting Parker as a bye week filler. Not expecting much but he should get some yards and has as good of a shot at a TD as anyone.

Does the title of your thread mean you believe McCardell is clearly the guy to have in SD? I haven't followed the Bolts much, but thought Keenan was nearly dead thus far.

He has been. He showed some signs of life last week but that was the same game where Parker had 86 yards receiving and dropped another reception that would've put him well over 100. Parker's been getting the most targets of late, 13 the last two weeks and he's caught 9 of them for 123 yards. Like I said before I've always considered him a very under-rated WR - especially in fantasy. You can't start him every week by any means but if the matchup is right he's a guy who can deliver rock-solid WR3 numbers for you. And full disclosure: I am starting him as my WR3 this week with Braylon Edwards out on a bye so I have a bias here. But I'm starting him because I've had good fortunes with him in the past in addition to his increased role of late and the fact I think this is a very good matchup for Rivers and the San Diego passing game.

With Gates, there's only room for one other starter-worthy FF receiver, but it probably makes a lot of sense for McCardell owners (like me) to cover their bets by grabbing Parker.

From the game and a half I've seen it seems to me that Rivers looks for Parker first, but between a really conservative game plan the first two weeks, the bye and then McCardell's injury it's hard to tell for sure.

God bless Eric Parker. Rivers does a nice job of spreading the ball around:

Gates- 8 targets

LT- 8 targets

Parker- 8 targets

McCardell- 8 targets

Thanks for posting the target info -- didn't see that yesterday during the game. I took a flyer and started all three of them due to bye week problems, worked out well.Still not clear who Rivers' #1 WR target is though.

It looks to me like all the receivers are being used in very situational ways. Parker and McCardell are the main WRs between the 20's although they put Jackson and/or Floyd in the mix on a few downs. Then when they get closer to the goal line it seems like it's mostly Jackson and Floyd in the game. Personally I think it's a great use of the personel, but it makes it tough to settle on one in terms of fantasy football. If your league is more yardage/reception scewed, McCardell and Parker are the guys you want to have. If your league is more TD based I think you'd do better with Jackson and Floyd. If you're looking at dynasty, I think the guy to have is Jackson, he's the youngest and potentially closest to having the complete package.

Yep. McCardell and Parker are often together on the sideline in the red zone, which really hurts their fantasy value. But it's hard not to like a lineup of Antonio Gates, Vincent Jackson, Malcom Floyd, and Brandon Manumaleuna down there inside the twenty. Not only is that some serious size for fade routes, but those guys are all great blockers that help the running game.

I still like Eric Parker. The guy is a poor man's Bobby Engram in my opinion. He just shows up, catches passes and produces. He isn't going to be of a lot of help in terms of touchdowns but he's a good receiver and he's becoming the No. 1 WR in this offense in my opinion.

Parker & McCardell have some pretty amazing target/reception numbers for receivers:

Parker 24/18 (75%)

McCardell 20/16 (80%)

That places them 3rd and 4th in catch % among all WR with 20 or more targets. Parker's is particularly impressive because he's averaging 15.2 yards per reception.
