Having a great season
Which of the commentators/analysts above are the worst?
I am kind of torn. This idea for a poll hit me yesterday as I listened to the NFL Network on my Sirius. I think something like this has been done before, but I can't find it.
Just when I thought sports talk had hit a new low with Jerry Rice on Sirius, Keyshawn came along on ESPN. I honestly don't know how anyone looked at these guys and said, "Oh yeah, that's a go." These two ask the dumbest, most inane questions I've ever heard. And it isn't just the questions themselves, it's the way they ask them. I heard Jerry Rice ask Linehan a question yesterday that took him nearly a full minute to spit out. He doesn't know how to ask a succinct question. Furthermore, he doesn't know how to end a question in an interrogative tone. He kind of just trails off. It kind of went like this:
JR: "So, Coach, with the game...we all know it was tough to play Carolina, but you came prepared, and they came prepared, maybe they came a little bit more prepared, but what we want to discuss here is things like the changes....you know, the uh, changes you make from week to week, and could you possibly take a few minutes to discuss what types of things you might want to be changing when you look at film of the game and the things that you might look at changing up to put different looks out there, whether it's with film or breaking down your own gameplan, or...."
Keyshawn isn't any better. Here's typical Keyshawn commentary.
SportsCenter anchor: "So Keyshawn, let's hear what you think are the keys to the game between the Colts and the Saints."
KJ: "Well, when you're talking about the Colts, you have to talk about Peyton Manning, you have to talk about Marvin Harrison, you have to talk about Reggie Wayne. And now, you have to talk about Joseph Addai, too. This is a high powered offense that's going to try and counteract the Saints, and when you talk about them, you have to talk about the big play ability of Reggie Bush, and let's not forget Drew Brees, Deuce McAllister, and Marques Colston."
And now Emmitt Smith is in the running. I watched him fumble over four or five players' names last week enroute to saying nothing for 3 straight minutes. Pregame shows are becoming nearly unwatchable.
