If you were the Red Sox GM and were presented with these trades, what would you do?

The multiple poll option should be applicable.

Not a trick question.

:D

The only trade I wouldn't do is for Utley. That's not a bad trade but they already have Pedroia at 2nd so it would just be a slight upgrade at 2nd in exchange for creating holes in the starting rotation and CF (or LF if they use Cameron in CF).

I might not do it for Longoria.

Buchholtz had a decent chance to become a top of the rotation starter but he isn't one yet. If Ellsbury can up his OBP from .355 to .375 and his SLG% from from .415 to .450 then he's comparable to Johnny Damon in his better years. Again there's a good chance that's what he becomes but he isn't there now. They're both going to be reasonably cheap for several years too. That's a pretty valuable package but certainly worth giving up for the best hitters in the game.

If they could actually get Mauer or Pujols for anywhere near that cost they would do it. Heck, I'd toss 'em Beckett as well.If Epstein gave up Beckett, Bucholtz, AND Ellisbury for Joe Mauer or Albert Pujols I'd think the Red Sox pulled off quite the heist.I'd probably move those two for Longoria, but it's not a without question type move. Utley...I don't think so. Maybe if I looked at the numbers a bit more but off the top of my head I'd say no.

All easy. Move Utley to 1st. Everyone else where they are.
Utley can certainly hit well enough to play first but he's more valuable at second. Probably wouldn't like getting moved off his position. Philly wouldn't consider it anyway. They don't need cost controlled prospects with "upside" when they're in position to win next year with their current cast.

I wasn't aware Mauer was a free agent after next season. Okay, scratch him unless you could get him to agree to a contract extension...if you could get that, it'd be worth the price imo to lock him up instead of trying to outbid the Yankees or anyone else.
