As I have been looking over the numerous rookie Wr prospects for the upcoming 2007 draft I have been noticing that there are so many of them that are 6 feet tall or better, and also there are so many of them that run 4.4 40 times.

So what will seperate this deep group of talented Wrs from each other?

We have the measurables to compare all these Wrs but those measurables do not include what is probobly the most important thing. The recievers ability to catch the ball and catch the ball in tough situations. Just see Troy Williamson last year. I think Williamson has all the talent one could hope for except in the most critical thing for a Wr to do.

Catch the ball!!

When it is all said and done its the hands. The Wrs who can make the clutch catches on 3rd down and gain the confidence of thier Qbs and coaches who will always start and always have the opportunity to make plays.

So please vote for the rookie Wr prospects based on who has the softest hands and who will catch the highest percentage of thier targets. This can be somewhat dependent on thier Qb and the routes they run I know, but without knowing this just assume that each Wr will have the same supporting factors.

I am not talking about circus catches either. While a Wr who can make difficult catches is great they have to make the easy catches look easy too. If they can do both then they probobly deserve to be ranked highly in regard to this.

Who really has the best hands? And how would you rank them just considering this aspect of thier skill set?

I have eliminated Calvin Johnson who is the consensus best Wr in the draft. I also eliminated David Ball who is highly regarded in this aspect of his game but lacks speed. Please vote for each of the 4 questions based on which Wr you think has the best hands out of that group of 5 players. If you vote other please state who you voted for. Or better yet rank all of these players based on thier hands/ability to catch the ball.

Several votes for other. I wonder who those players are that were voted for? If you voted other please let us know who it is you voted for.

I know this poll is kind of hard to follow. I was trying to speed the process of it instead of doing one player at a time in many polls.

Not sure how Craig Davis stacks up against everyone else, but he without a doubt has MUCH better hands than Dwayne Bowe.

Really? Thanks for the observation as they are both from the same team making it easier to compare.

I have seen Bowe get alligator arms when going over the middle and I have seen him drop some easy catches in the limited film I have seen of him. Bowe is so highly regarded by the consensus however.

From NFL.com prospect profiles:

Bowe

Has large, natural hands and knows how to extend and pluck away from his frame.. Has natural hands, but looks to run with the ball before securing it, leading to costly drops or the ball bouncing off his frame for an interception ... will struggle a bit to get to the low throws … Needs to improve his ability to look the long ball in over his outside shoulder (will get turned around some and lose sight of the ball).
Davis

Davis is a well-built target who runs precise routes, and many experts consider him to have the best hands of any receiver in the Southeastern Conference... making good body adjustments to be in position to make the catch ... has the ability to pluck the ball away from his frame ... Has natural hands to catch the low and chest-high balls, but will struggle some with his timing and elevation going for the high throws … Gives a poor effort, keeping his arms short and lets the ball come into his body rather than extend for it when working through a crowd

Dwayne Jarrett DOES NOT have better hands than Sidney Rice. my guess is a lot of you have never seen Rice play.

Rice has made some amazing catches. He drops some easy ones too though. Kind of like Brandon Lloyd.I have not seen much of Rice however so maybe I am totaly wrong about him.Rice:
It is evident that he has natural ball skills to adjust to the ball in flight and play it deep … Shows the ability to adjust and get in position to snatch the long ball over his outside shoulder without having to throttle down … Very good working the sidelines and keeping his feet in bounds … Has outstanding ball skills to adjust to the thrown ball, looking natural with his body control to get in position and make plays over his shoulder … Able to extend and pluck the ball outside his frame and while his concentration lapsed at times, he was very good at securing the ball and protecting it before heading up field ... Has the leaping ability to compete for the ball in the air, but needs to do a better job of timing those leaps … Has some hip tightness, but still shows shifty moves on long routes (less in shorter routes) … Whether it is timing or an unwillingness, he will struggle to compete for the ball in a crowd and despite a 35-inch vertical jump and his 6-3 frame, defenders were able to deflect 17 passes out of his hands in 2006 and he failed to run under 23 other throws ... Needs to improve on short routes, as like most tall receivers he struggles to drop his weight and gain separation … Going over the middle, he looks affected by close coverage at times and seems to be too aware of traffic.
Rice also does not have the elite speed that many of the other Wr have shown 4.53 40 His 4.34 shuttle is not quite as good as most of the other highly regarded Wr prospects his cone time of 7.09 was worse than most of them also except for Jarrett who posted 7.28Measurables cetainly are not everything. But Rice does not appear to be as fast, explosive or agile as most of the top 10-15 Wr prospects are.

25 votes for other now but zero discernable mentions of who those others may be.
Calvin Johnson, perhaps.ETA: My bad, I see you omitted him from ccnsideration. Maybe I was not the only one.
