Some time ago I played in a league that worked something like a Survivor league, but it went like this:
A team can choose any player they want to fill a standard roster spot, but can only use that player once in a season.
After 12 weeks, the top 4 (or 6) overall scoring teams make the playoffs. Total scores get set back to zero, and for weeks 13-16, again they set their lineup with anybody they want. But they can still not used anybody they've already used at any point in time in the season.
Top scorer overall in the playoffs wins.
What I liked about it is the strategy of deciding to hold the studs back for the playoffs (with the risk of not making the playoffs) or going all out during the season, hoping that you can cobble together a good team in the playoffs based on injuries, etc.
Does this format have a name? Do any websites handle this kind of format? It is the playoff part that seems to be the stickler on MFL, but I might be missing something.
Thanks in advance.
