White Privilege and Intersectionality (1 Viewer)

Good thoughts, you and I have completely different approaches to managing our humans.

I think they should largely be responsible for themselves particularly when it comes to the basics of what to eat and drink, you would like the government to drive much more of that.  Your approach may get better behaviors, or it may be as successful as the war on drugs or prohibition...but even if it was successful its just not the form of government I advocate for...again, just different.

I do think there are a lot of administrative and equity issues about restricting access to items in only some zip codes.  I get the kids analogy on some of the restrictions, but treating adults like kids...we're creating a society full of big kids who simply need more and more helicoptering in, except its not mommy its uncle sam (this isn't just a lowest rung of the economic ladder thing)

I'm also sure there would be some some common sense things we could agree on.
I think we aren’t far off on our stances.  My main point was that it isn’t as simple as they make bad decisions.  Which i believe we agree on.

Take away the kids analogy.  Start with simply making it more accessible and cheaper.  I suspect over time people will choose to eat better.  Not everyone of course but as a whole people feel really when given a choice will choose healthier life styles.  And programs like this help everyone.  It keeps people healthier which lowers health care costs and strain on the healthcare system.  It’s a win win.  People still have their choices and in fact they have more choices in this scenario.  I’ll have to look tonight but I’d imagine there have been studies on this or areas this has been tested.
