It's not all that bad. I'm just glad Kenny is trying to make the team better and spending money and not sitting on his ###. Rowand will come back soon.

4 years for a reliever?? For Linenbrink??Bad signing
Curious as to why you think this. I felt Linebrink was one of the best relievers on the market, including closers. Looks like a fair deal to me.
His numbers are not trending well...he is becoming very prone to HRs, and seems to have lost the ability to strike anyone out (check his K/9 last year). He is not the type of guy I want to lock up 4 years with. Then again, at least he is better then JC Romero

 He could return to form but paying that for a set-up guy in a plus HR park that couldn't keep the ball in at Petco, isn't that great of a deal.

Last 3 years:

ERA: 1.84, 3.57, 3.71

WHIP: 1.07, 1.22, 1.32

BABIP: .270, .300, .270

LOB%: 85%, 75%, 79%

K/9: 8.6, 8.1, 6.4

BB/9: 2.8, 2.6, 3.2

K/BB: 3.0, 3.1, 2.0

expected ERA: 3.16, 3.20, 4.26

HR/9: 0.8, 1.1, 1.5

all in all, a terrible signing for that ballpark

:goodposting: :goodposting: Unless he magically learns how to reduce his taterballs at age 31, it's just not a good signing for the years the Sox are giving him. If it was a, say, 2 year $10 mil deal, then they could at least kick him out the door at age 33 or deal him at the deadline. Now, however, they're on the hook until at least his last year of his contract.

Wasnt he a class A Free Agent? Which means CHI had to give up their 1st round pick to sign him.

Linenbrink is an A, but Chicago doesn't have to give up its first round pick. It pays to suck sometimes. Teams who have picks 1-15 don't have to give up their first rounder. So Chicago loses its second round pick, and Milwaukee also gets a sandwich pick.

Thanks for the clarification.
