Who are Your TOP 5 Value Picks for QB, RB, WR? (1 Viewer)

QB

J. Campbell: ready for a breakout season, good #2

J. Garcia: call me crazy, but if he wins the job I think he can put up some good numbers

P. Rivers: he'll continue to get better

J. Kitna: Martz, lack of name recognition

D. Huard: assuming he's the starter, he can put up good numbers again

RB

C. Portis: all this Betts nonsense is driving him down

T. Jones: he'll blow up

W. Dunn: always undervalued

F. Taylor: see Dunn

B. Jackson: someone has to carry the load

WR

I. Bruce: he still has it

V. Jackson: blow up

J. Galloway: old yes, but still fast

R. Smith: don't forget

W. Welker: will become a Brady favorite

Some of mine are a little out there. Oh well, here goes it...EDITED to add QB's

Oh yeah, mostly thinking REDRAFT here....

RB

S. Alexander - I've seen mocks with him slipping to the bottom half of the first round...giving you a good chance at having a spectacular 1-2, RB-RB punch

E. James - No one will forget last year, and he'll be a good bargain for somebody

J. Jones - Brand new staff has me thinking much better role for him. Still a 1000 yard back

(Bear with me on this one) Morency - I believe he will have value for two reasons. 1) Trade value. SOMEBODY will believe that he can be a full time starter this year. He very well could be. To somebody hurting at RB, you might be able to squeeze some great trade value there. 2) I highly doubt that Jackson will be thrown into the starting role on day 1, no matter how good he does in camp. You'll at the very least get a short term starter at a reasonable draft position.

A. Thomas - Some of the same reasons as Morency. Something tells me he's this year's Dominic Rhodes. Lynch is great, but I see Thomas as somewhat startable at the start of '07. Possible week 2-3 sell high??

WR -

Lee Evans - At least 10 WRs will be taken before him. You'll get almost as talented of a WR at a much cheaper price.

Mark Clayton - Will outproduce at least half of the WRs taken before him.

Joey Galloway - Can't rank him any higher than WR25. Solid, solid year with Gradkowski throwing to him most of last year. Won't get any worse with Simms or Garcia.

Santonio Holmes - I'm thinking Holmes/Ward is this year's Berrian/Muhammed. I wouldn't be shocked if Holmes outdoes Ward in fantasy points....if not yards and TDs. Also plays ST. I'll throw Cotchery in here, for exactly the same reasons.

Joey Galloway - Can't rank him any higher than WR25. Solid, solid year with Gradkowski throwing to him most of last year. Won't get any worse with Simms or Garcia.

Jerry Porter - Some people 1) can't forget last year's horrible OAK offense...and 2) can't remember Porters stats in 04-05. Good late round value.

QB's -

Mike Vick - If, only if, suspensions are handed down. Many won't want to take him. He'll slip a bit, and you'll be able to address other needs first, then take a top QB later.

Vince Young - "Curse" fears and worries of being surrounded by a lesser talented team may drop him a bit.

Jon Kitna - Best QB playing on a bad team. Should carry value wherever he gets taken. A tad risky, may be in danger of being sat to give Stanton some PT late in the season if playoffs are out of the question.

Alex Smith - IMO the lowest ranked QB with a reasonable chance at being a QB1.

Steve McNair - IMO the highest rated vet not in danger of losing his job this year. If QBBC is your game, should be a solid #2.

An earlier thread asked for opinions on Top 5 at each position for fantasy points. I'll start a thread for Top 5 VALUE (price vs. upside) picks:

QB

Brees (has shot at being #1 QB this year w/ Colston, Bush, Meachem, Henderson, etc.)

Kitna (good shot at Top 5 fantasy production)

Leinert (Fitz & Boldin - need I say more?)

Bulger (could blow up with the additions of Bennet and McMichael to go along with Holt, SJax, and Bruce)

Rivers (cheap price...could easily end up Top 7)
I'm really high on Kitna finishing with great number, but that is all predicated on if Detroit is somewhat in the playoff hunt come season's end. If they are sub-500 with 4 games left, then the powers that be may decide to begin the Drew Stanton era. Just a possiblity...If you decide to go with Kitna in the 7-9th round, I would draft another QB a round or two later just in case.
IMHO Kitna is over rated. He will chuck for a lot of yards but if you are in a league that subtracts for picks, he will break your heart nearly every week.

Chris Brown #64 (longshot...White is fat and Henry isn't ready)
I don't know why people keep suggesting that Brown will win the starting job in Tennessee. He is no longer on the team and is a free agent. At this point, he's spoken to 6-8 teams and no one has signed him. If he were to sign now it would be as a backup. It looks like he's playing the waiting game in the hopes that a team will have a RB that will get hurt and be out for the year.

I don't think anyone has forgotten. It was just a different time and place (e.g., contract year, less wear and tear then, not coming off an injury, better OL, etc.)

i think Tennessee, maybe GB, is Brown's only shot at winning a starting job.

I'll throw a different name out there.......

Vernand Morency - RB – GB

I see Morency as the starter in GB for 2007. Morency reported in top shape and has produced well when given the touches in the past. 142rsh 618 4.4ypc 4TD/27rec 205 7.8ypr in his first 2 years are nice averages for part time play.

I don’t see Brandon Jackson as a threat, more of a backup and change of pace guy. The rookie will also need to improve his blocking skills. Being that I see Jackson on this thread a few times, Morency could even a bigger value than I realize.

You read it here first :lmao:

Chad Jackson - Moss will attract a lot of attention leaving him open all day
He tore his ACL and could be on the PUP or IR list this year. Even if he plays, the Pats have TONS of WRs ahead of him on the food chain.
I did not realize he was in such a bad place. I do have to admit that I forgot about Stallworth with all of the Moss hype going on. What is his ADP like? Maybe he is the "bargain" on that team.

Here's the problem for Jackson:Randy MossDonte StallworthWes WelkerReche CaldwellKelley WashingtonJabar GaffneyTroy Brown (if he comes back)He suffered a partial ACL tear in the AFC Championship game, so who knows what that translates to in terms of recovery time. The team was hopeful he'd be back for Week 1, but given the glut of WRs they have they probably will not rush him. I would guess he'll start the year on the PUP list and have to miss the first 6 games, at which point they'll have to figure out what to do with him.

While I agree with your point, Morency has been debated for the last 6 months (at least)...you are hardly "the first" to say this
