Who do we target? Decker and Lloyd... (1 Viewer)

Lost in all the Tebow talk is the fact that Denver faces an extremely favorable passing matchup situation in the fantasy playoffs.

Tebow was in there for a half last weekend obviously and Decker didn't do anything with him in there.

Eric Decker - first half with Orton he had a catch for negative yards. Second half with Tebow

1st target with Tebow (twT - Decker fell on the route, got back up and ran a little flat route. Tebow couldn't find anyone and eventually checked down to him. 0 yards. Tackled immediately.

2nd target (twT) - Tebow has 8 seconds with the ball before releasing it an just barely missing a wide open Decker down the deep middle. Decker made a really nice adjustment on it but fell just short. Another half second of float on the ball and it is a 90 yard touchdown. How much would that have changed opinions on Decker going forward? Because it was razor thin on the miss.

Brandon Lloyd -didn't do anything on his two Orton targets in the first half.

1st target (twT) - Real simple one read go route. Lloyd went up and caught the ball but wasn't able to control it before touching out of bounds. I watch every Packers game and Lloyd reminds me of Greg Jennings or Donald Driver with his ability to adjust to the ball. His feet were just barely out as he bobble the ball before eventually controlling it.

2nd target (twT) - Just a sick one-handed catch. Tebow threw it poorly but Lloyd just make a great catch that was initially ruled incomplete but reversed. This is the type of play that make him a buy. Watch the play for yourself here. You are going to see more of this type of thing going forward.

Heading into the fantasy playoffs they have the following schedule.

Week 13 - at Minnesota - Given up the 8th most yards 271.ypg and have allowed 6 passing touchdowns so far. In the last 3 weeks they've allowed 27.8, 34.8, and 38.9 to teams top 2 wide receivers combined. That's an average of about 17 points for the receivers. The lead wideout for opposing teams has averaged 23 ppg against them. Secondary wideouts have averaged 11. They've played Kolb, Cassell, and Stafford in that time.

Week 14 - Home vs Bears - Currently surrendering 284 ypg and have allowed 9 scores for far. Nice matchup for those that squeak into the fantasy playoffs. The Bears are allowing opposing top 2 wideouts about 15 ppg. But the top wideout for opposing teams has been around 23.6 ppg. So this could be a game where Lloyd just lights it up. It might be enough to propel a team into the money round for most league...week15.

Week 15 - Home vs New England. What have we here? The juiciest matchup in all of sport. New England's offense is so strong, opposing teams are forced to go full throttle to try to keep up. Plus this is a home game, probably in the snow. With Tebow extending plays I think you could see some long balls as Denver just chucks the ball all game in a futile effort. A good situational reference game would be the debacle against Green Bay a few weeks ago. Decker and Lloyd both had nice games. They could have been much nicer too. For guys currently rated WR30+ right now this is the type of matchup you want.

Week 16 - at Buffalo - Another cold weather game against a good offense and potentially in whether. Decker and Lloyd both seem like the type of guys who won't wilt in the snow. They will have to throw to score against Buffalo as the Bills will get out ahead. Remember this is the team Wes Welker (great route runner like Decker and Lloyd) hung 51 fantasy points on. They had nothing for him. Jason Avant had a very nice stat line last week too. AJ Green went over 100 on them and Denarious Moore hung 150 on them. This is the team you want to be against in the championship week. Especially if signs of life emerge in Denver between now and then.

Great matchups - check

Low value because of uncertainty - check

Buy and hold.

I like it! Missed on Decker earlier this year but he just got cut no doubt because of fears of Tebow and the bye week. Still, I jumped on him. Gotta be forward thinking. Not sure I care much about LLoyd though I'm sure he was drafted relatively high and is not on waivers anywhere.

Great Info. Don't forget Eddie Royal as well.

I've got an even better sleeper for you that could come on right around playoff time and is probably sitting on your leagues waivers:

Demariyus Thomas (sp?). He is a monster. And he will start playing again in week 7 after their bye. I think they will put Decker in the slot and have thomas and lloyd split out wide. Thats a freaking nightmare for opposing defenses.

Thomas has the talent to overtake both Lloyd AND Decker as the #1 WR in Denver. If not this season then definitely next. If you have the bench room to stash him i think its a shark play.

I'm thinking there's very little chance there is room for 3 startable fantasy WRs on Denver. If Thomas comes in strong then it could really hurt everyone involved. I'd be stunned if all three guys became must starts.

Targets thread has no targets.

Guess I could look them up myself. But let's face it, I'm lazy.

Seems like Lloyd has a shot at staying relevant with Tebow.

Decker is more of an unknown. We haven't really seen much of the Tebow/Decker combo on the field yet.

Thomas is available in every league I play in. He's a great guy as a longshot. I don't think all three become relevant but I think Lloyd does for sure. Thomas and Decker may have a battle but for the waiver wire cost of either player right now, I think you have a great risk/reward situation with either.

I agree with you there. I don't think either Decker or Thomas is going to overtake Brandon Lloyd though. He's going to play the Steve Smith role in Fox's offense moving forward.Barring a complete collapse (meaning they fold up the team) though this team plays a cupcake schedule and somebody is going to put up stats. My bet right now would go something like this.Lloyd puts up solid WR2 numbers.Decker or Thomas put up late Wr2/WR3 numbers.Over that final stretch.

The thomas pick up is obviously way early and a long shot. the kid is coming back from rupturing his achilles.

However noone can deny his talent/size combo. He was drafted to replace Brandon Marshall's physical presence on the field. As long as he stays healthy there is no reason why he can't eventually be that for Denver. Since he was a 1st rd pick I'm sure they will give him the opportunity to do it too.

Don't forget that bc we have a new QB with Tebow, it remains to be seen who the WR of choice will be in Denver. Could be Lloyd, Decker, or Thomas.

I agree that Denver's offensive scheme cant suupport all three, and perhaps not even 2 for fantasy relevance. I just grabbed Thomas in my dynasty league off waivers for $1. He will probably never see my starting lineup this year. If he does something b/w now and the end of the season, he turns into an exceptional keeper. If he doesn't, I throw him back to the wolves, no harm no foul.

I also own Decker. I think the kid has all world talent. But he has a different skill set than Thomas. Decker would just be straight up NASTY in the slot while Thomas would be nasty split out wide. Bottom line, the winner here is TEBOW, who will have INSANE weapons to work with. Add to that McGahee and Knowshon catching passes out of the backfield, and Tebow has NO excuse for failure.

With all the Lloyd rumors, is Decker a strong hold now? I was about to throw him back to the wire to pick up Mark Clayton, but not sure if that's a good idea at this point.

I'd hold just in case Lloyd is moved. Decker would be the healthiest and most likely primary target for at least a few weeks as Thomas and Royal get worked in.

I think Decker is a strong hold regardless. If you read through my target analysis, you'll see that Decker's stat line could have easily read 3 for 85 and a touchdown. Would you even need to ask the question if Decker had 18 fantasy points last weekend?

Serious question. Orton is the more polished QB, but couldn't do much w/ or for these guys. Why would Tebow who brings a different, less traditional skill set make the WRs better options?

The ability to extend plays and drives with his feet is one reason.
