Who do we target? Jake Locker (1 Viewer)

In limited action last season he averaged around 20 fantasy points per game. He looked good scrambling and I've heard some pundits say he's the best scrambler in the NFL who isn't on the Humane Society guest speaker list. He's got the draft pedigree. He was rated really high going into the 2010 college season, stayed in college to win a bowl game and get his degree..which he did. But that season hurt his draft stock....supposedly. Then he got drafted 7th by the Titans. So I guess it didn't hurt too much. It seems like it hurt him more in the eyes of the media than it did in the eyes of NFL managers.

(TheHuddle) Tennessee Titans TE Jared Cook said he expects QBs Matt Hasselbeck and Jake Locker to have a good competition for the starting quarterback job during training camp and believes Locker could win the competition. "I think Matt has a little bit of upside, but I think Jake's got heart," Cook said. "Jake knows what he wants. When you know what you want, sometimes you're going to get it. So I think it's going to be a good competition."

Analysis: Locker showed well in brief appearances last season, and while Hasselbeck enters OTAs as the starter Locker is definitely the future franchise QB. The future might come as soon as this season, too, so Locker is worth a redraft stash as well as a dynasty roster spot if he isn't snapped up already.
Here is the Gruden QB Camp of him prior to the 2011 draft : Watch Here

So the question is this...how good can this kid be? I think the sky is the limit, he hasn't even suited up with Britt on the field yet. Jared Cook appears to have developed. Damian Williams showed he can play some. He's got Chris Johnson obviously who is terrific as a receiver that he can take it to the house any time even on dumpoffs (free points for Locker...yay!). I'm really high on him. I recently traded for him in my dynasty league. I gave up Leshoure (pre-marijuana bust) and feel I got a steal.

If I had to pick right now. Knowing what I know of Locker, I'd have him third in this QB class. He's not Luck or Griffin but he's closer to those guys than he is to Tannehill.

Film analysis of all of his 2011 plays to follow. But I have to get back to work now.

I really hope he is the starter coming out of camp over Hassleback. He is riding under the radar a bit with all the attention being placed on Luck and RG3, and the upcoming draft. Looks like a rock solid QB2 option (or better ? ) for fantasy purposes.

I tried to get him a week or so ago thinking the same but was rebuffed. Offered what i thought was a kings ransom too, MJD for Locker, cook and 1.12. Boards here skewered me for offering it and him for not accepting it...

Locker looked good in limited action in relief of Hasselbeck in 2-3 games. He averaged 8.2 YPA for the season - however that was on a real small sample size, not enough in itself to draw any conclusions on, but quite promising nevertheless.

He was on my target list last year and is again this year. Locker never has gotten much love on this forum and still doesn't - I can remember EBF saying after he was taken by the Titans that there was a 95% probablility that he would be a bust.

He has some good weapons to work with (Britt, Washington, Cook, Williams, Chris Johnson) and it is just a matter of time before he displaces Hasselbeck - he is the Titans QB of the future, irrespective of the owner's flirtation with Manning.

I won't predict he will become a elite QB, but I see that potential upside. However, I do expect him to become a solid 2nd tier QB in fantasy leagues. I think he can still be had fairly cheaply in comparison to some other higher profile unproven QBs that people are speculating on.

I honestly don't see why he can't put up Cam Newton type of numbers passing and 6 rushing scores if he wins the job.

I wouldnt go that far......Honestly, Im still blown away by what Newton did last yr. 4K passing, 14 TD rushing.....that was freakish production. But if u could get 3800+ passing and...yeah...maybe 4+ rushing TD's that would be high end QB2 borderline QB1 #'s. Figure you acquire 9th round or later in a redraft, or at fractional cost of a Romo type in auction.....I would take that in a heartbeat.

he is a really good player and i hope that he gets the job and that they make hasselbeck sell popcorn instead so that he is useful they need to develop him and if that means a crappy first season then so be it no matter what get him the pt let the game slow down and let him lock and roll for the rest of time that is my new nickname for him lock and roll you can all use if it you want take it to the bank brohans
