Due to some kind of argument against a fellow FBG (differing pronunciations of Don and Dawn, for example), the only way to resolve the issue is physical combat. You get to choose 3 "average" players from one of the above sports in the poll to go against your opponent and his 3 average players. You win the coin flip and get to choose your sport first.  Average heights and weights from respective sports listed.

Which athletes do you take?

Whoa. I slowly back away from the first three, that's for sure.

I'm missing something here, right? You are asking who I would choose to get into physical combat with?

NFL - big, fast, muscular guys in the most physical sport in the world

NHL - Guys who actually get to fight as part of their sport

PGA - get clubs

NBA - ? LeFlop. D-Wade. Manu. LOL.

I'll take Stephen Neal, Steve Smith and Tom Zbikowski against any 3 hockey players on the planet.
If Bob Probert was still on this planet, you'd be an awfully lot more cautious saying that.

PGA players - I don’t care whether I win the theoretical fight and the 3 of them would probably die and I could console their wives.  PGA player wives are hot as balls.   :moneybag:

NBA is being serverly underrated. I get the allure of the NFL, but there are so many different types of guys in the NFL - skinny WR, fat lineman, stud LB, who knows what you are going to end up with. In the NBA, pretty much everyone is in really good shape, and a whole lot of those guys come from the hood. I think they'd put up a pretty good fight.

Have you ever seen a BB "fight"  they mostly slap like little girls.  Well, except Kermit Washington, but he is 66.

They'll have a nice reach advantage over the others for sure. Now whether or not they can fight is another discussion

In general, NBA players slap punch like they suddenly become the most effeminate humans on the planet.

Hockey players are the only ones who fight for a living.  The only choice here.
Zbikowski was a strong safety and is an undefeated boxer now.  Stephen Neal is one of the best collegiate wrestlers in the last 20 years.  In a street fight, you'd better hope you knock him out with 1 punch because your neck will probably be broken shortly afterwards.

I thought it was who I'd want to fight, not who I'd want fighting for me, so I chose golfer

I'm probably taking NFL first then NHL, because if I took NHL I'd probably get stuck with one of the Sedin twins or something

gimme a passel of 5'7 160 lb Irish footballers and i'll take em all on. a real Irishman's favorite part of a fight is the end and they can bicycle kick Adam's apples with stunning accuracy

I'll take any version of Shaq first. I think my second choice is a clinically crazy mf'er like Ron Artest who has a well known history of brawling.

That's not the premise. You don't get any version of Shaq; Artest is probably a fail too.
The premise is to pick a generalization of any of mentioned sports players to win a fight, correct? That is impossible because in any sport, there are far too many variations/body types/builds/specialties to generalize an entire sport. Take even golf for example. You could pick from Tiger, or some slob like John Daly.

Nope. Let me know if more help is needed..

RIF Forever!

I take hockey guys all day long, with NFL not too too far behind. If it's basketball players, I'll just fight 'em myself.
I think I agree with this. If I knew I was getting linebackers or linemen I'd go football but punters, kickers and most QBs pull the average down to the point where I'm taking experience.

If you can take your pick of any three guys from the sport NHL wins.  You would have your choice of several big guys who have likely fought more than 50 times.  There is no substitute for experience.

If random sampling, I’m going NFL.   Too many hockey players have never fought before.  Size and strength then matter a whole lot more.
