Who gets the better of this offer? (1 Viewer)

Crawford is the best player in the deal, Jeter > Peralta, and Smoltz should be around top-15 going forward among SP's.

I like team b, and team B also has another player to add in place/pick up off waivers since it's a 3 for 4 deal.

Interesting. Thanks.

I'm the one offering Mauer and I thought I offered a heckuva deal on these premises (in no particular order):

1) Mauer is Mauer (his current catcher is Ramon Hernandez)

2) Peralta is ranked higher in our league than Jeter

3) Smoltz is banged up right now

4) Wells, though struggling, is a proven player; Crawford not so much (but I agree, Crawford is the best player in the deal)

How about this:

Mauer/Isringhausen

for

Haren/Adrian Gonzalez

Haren's numbers are superior than Smoltz's but I'm doubtful they'll remain that way. But I really need a pitcher. Haren, to me, is the ultimate sell high candidate.

Thanks for your responses.

Haren/A. Gonzalez >>>>>>>>>>> Mauer & Izzy

Not for nothing, but Mauer is pretty overrated imo. Great average, not great power...and he's not putting up 20+ steals. And now he is fresh off yet another injury. If it's a keeper league, you may have more leverage, but in a single year, Mauer is not going to turn anyone's team around, certainly not a team with an already serviceable (when healthy) catcher in Ramon Hernandez. And now you're trying to pry an up and coming slugger, and one of the hottest pitchers in the majors??? g'luck with that

I, like most, probably overvalue my players. :D He offered Kendrick who I have no use for so Gonzalez seemed like a good compromise to Jeter or Crawford.I actually prefer Smoltz to Haren and would have no trouble doing the deal for Smoltz and Gonzalez (which he'll agree to) if not for Smoltz's nagging injuries.guru, you seem to be in the know. What do you think about Smoltz? Are these injuries going to set him back or put him on the shelf in your opinion?Again, thanks for your replies.

I own Smoltz in one league I'm in first place in. I have no problem thinking he'll be a top20 or so starter for the rest of the year. However, he is old, and injuries with old guys happens. Hell, when I was 25 I would hurt myself in a softball game, and I'd be out playing the next day. Now at 35, I hurt myself bending over to put my shoes on in the morning, and I feel it for the next month. If someone offered me Haren for Smoltz straightup, I'd take it in a heartbeat. Honestly I don't mind seeing Smoltz missing a start or two every few months if it means I get 33 starts out of him for the year.

Thanks for your input. I think I'll do this deal.
