Who gets the record TD ball? (1 Viewer)

Dunno. I think Brady's record is much bigger as he doesn't have the asterisk for games that the Moss record has.

I would say Brady.....WR has to have a QB to throw him the ball
Yes, we all know how well QBs do without WRs. Canton until a year or two from now when Eli Manning breaks the record.

Brady and Moss both discussed it in their press conferences. Brady said Randy offered it up to him and suggested they cut it in two; Tom said he hadn't thought about it much yet but since Randy grabbed the ball, it was his. Brady went on to say that he has the jersey and lots of memories of the record. Moss at his presser reiterated that he would prefer to split the ball.

Using Newman logic:Only the real owner of the ball would rather see someone else have it, rather than have it cut in half. The ball is Brady's.

They will exchange the ball every 6 months. 3 men with metal briefcases handcuffed to their wrists will go get the ball from Moss after his 6 months is up. They will have helicopter cover, as well as being flanked by armored trucks, and snipers. Nobody will know which briefcase holds the deflated ball. They will contact Brady once the exchange has been made. He will be given an address to a nearby payphone. At that payphone a man will zipline in from a rooftop.... he will hand Tom one single peice of paper with a phone number on it. He will have to dial the number right away as the salt from his fingers will cause the paper to evaporate in 30 seconds. Once he calls the number, he will be told once, and only once... where to go pick up the ball. Then, Brady will proceed to have his 6 months with the ball, and so forth.

Cut the ball in half..flatten it and frame it.

Or...Lets be honest..a football is a football. Put the real ball and another game ball in a bag..shake it up and give one to each of them. No one would ever know.

Brady was asked this question on a radio interview this morning.

They just came to an agreement, Brady got the 49/22 ball, Moss got the 50/23 ball.

cut both balls in half, and then stitch a half from each one together! :bag: I actually like what Brady and Moss came to as a solution. I still believe without Moss there, Brady does not get this record this year. I know there will be some here that will same the same thing about Moss and the record.

That is not exactly like a bold statement or anything.

Brady was winning without Moss. This record came about because of Moss.I was reading on Patriots.com that Moss wasn't the first option on the play.

WR Randy Moss, QB Tom Brady, and head coach Bill Belichick describe the play that changed the game against the Giants Saturday night: Brady's 65-yard TD toss to Moss, which was originally supposed to be a much shorter pass to WR Wes Welker. On TD number 50, Moss was actually option number 2

Yes. Duh. Find me someone who thinks Brady would have 50 TDs throwing just to Welker, Stallworth, Gaffney, etc.

I would think Moss, because without Moss Brady is not that great of a QB....BTW, I'm not fishing, it's true. Look at the TDs by Brady during the time he didn't have Moss... heck most of Moss' TDs were lob balls by Brady that Moss went and got...

If that's not fishing I don't know what is. :goodposting: Unless what you meant to say is Brady has never accumulated great QB stats without Moss. That makes more sense.

Wait..... Are you saying that Moss was actually hustling on a play not designed for him? Uncanny. Are you seeing this Jaworski?

That happens all the time, - as option #2, he still has great shot to catch a pass. The shocking thing has been seeing him block. And to be fair, when Jaws or others have mentioned Moss taking a play off, Moss was .... taking a play off.

I was being sarcastic. I know Moss usually plays to his full potential. I'm a Vikings fan and thought he got an unfair rep for taking plays off back then. He's not a great blocker, but he does usually try.And yes, he occassionally lolligags on a play or two, but he usually plays 95% of the offensive snaps(unlike any other receiver in the game) and runs deep routes on each one.

Switz should not be listened to with any level of objectivity on any subject relating to the Patriots. This is not new.

I caught Brady's and Belichick's interview on EEI and both were asked about this play. The play technically had Welker as the #1, but it sounded like it was called for Moss. The NFL Network didn't show it, but Sam Madison game up a little gimpy on the previous play when Moss couldn't come up with the catch. They called a play with a deep route to Moss partially for this reason. Also, when the play actually began, Madison came off Moss to double Welker (this is called "peeling off" I believe) as Welker had a shorter route more designed to just get the first down. This might have been the smart play for Madison, but it's likely that the fact he had just gotten knicked up a bit/ran a deep route factored into his decision to peel off and leave Moss open.So this play is designed to have Welker as the #1 read, but in this situation, at least according to Brady, he was looking to Moss.
