Who has confidence in Rivers this week? (1 Viewer)

The last time he played the Chiefs he had 316 and 2 tds. However, the Chiefs have improved since then and Rivers has been anything but consistent. He had a good game last week vs. Oakland but 2 pretty bad fantasy games vs. Indy and Pittsburgh. I wonder how much of this game is going to be LT and Sproles.

I like having Rivers on my roster, but as others have intoned he is a little inconsistent. Deciding between he and Cutler this week is going to drive me nuts.

I have Rodgers on my roster as my other qb, and even in defeat he has put up good numbers. It's either start the guy with the nice matchup, or start the guy in the offense that throws the ball alot.

KC is ranked 29th against the pass...SD is ranked 30th. No guarantees, but that sounds like a high scoring game with a lot of opportunities for Rivers to light it up.

when you say inconsistent, do you mean he doesn't consistently throw 3 tds a game?!? Because comparatively speaking, as in comparing to other qbs, he has arguably been the most stable/consistent option at QB this year...

3 off weeks, 5/11/13. Of that, 1 was at Pitt, week 11. Beyond that he's over 3000 yards already, and has 26 tds to 10 Ints. And the matchup is great. How can this even be discussed?!? It's mind bottling...

Mind bottling? He actually has had 5 off weeks (4,5,7,11,13). Rivers has 4 games under 200 yards passing this season, and 3 more under 220. That is 7 out of 14 games. He has 8 games with under 20 completions. That is why it is being discussed. It's the playoffs, everything gets analyzed. It also falls under the contention that SD at its core is a running team. I believe if he had his way Norv would never pass the ball.

He is a top 5 QB. He is playing KC. Again, who is your better option?Weak thread.

I forget what the Raiders D rank is against the pass but I seem to recall it was higher than I expect from the Raiders. So I consider that a good game. Everyone was saying to bench him, which I did :goodposting:

Now against KC? Hell yeah! I also have Favre and Flacco so this one was a no brainer. I'm not trusting my season to a waiver wire fill in this week....not with Rivers on my team.

Tis a reference to a Will Ferrell movie, look it up...

As far as this thread goes, if you want a serious answer, anyone not named peyton would be ranked lower than Rivers in my book for this week. It is a no brainer. Twist the numbers however you like, he is the highest rated passer and td leader in the league, going up against one of the worst pass Ds in the league. Overanalysis beyond that is detrimental to your team...

You call week 7 an off week? He had 18.3 points in FBG scoring. What is your cutoff for an off week? Consider games under 20 fantasy points (FBG scoring):4 - Warner, Romo (in 10 games)5 - Rivers, Brees, Rodgers, Peyton6 - McNabb7 - Cutler9 - Eli10 - CassellThose are the top 10 fantasy QBs so far in FBG scoring.

Thats why I asked what the definition of 'inconsistent' was for the OP. In this day and age, you can twist any numbers into making a player look totally inept or the best thing since sliced bread. ESPN, especially sportscenter, has turned this into an artform. Here, the individual in question is listing week 7 as an off week. 208 yards, 2 tds, 100+ rating. Lets take that as an average to a 16 game season. While the yardage won't blow you away, 98.3% of the qbs in this league will take 32 tds, 3300 yards and a 103.8 rating to the bank. And most definitely to Hawaii. But this is an off week. Some of you guys are classic. I can picture you plugging Pennington in over Rivers because some service you paid money for is telling you so. Just like they're telling you that week 7 for Rivers was a bust. Good times, good times...

Every other game the guy throws 3 TD's.....is there a reason not to?
Because last week he threw 3 tds. That would mean this is the week he doesn't.
Let me guess. Your opponent this week has Rivers and he frequents the Shark Pool so you are using this alias to try and convince him to bench Rivers.

Rivers vs KC

-OR-

Ryan vs TB

Seems like a no brainer for me...

I'm sure I'll make the wrong choice though! :lmao:

I have Peyton in there now but what worries me is if the Colts get up big, maybe I should go Rivers.
I love the humor in the Shark Pool some times. Who do you think will be responsible for the Colts being up big eh? Who cares if they bench Peyton after 3 quarters after he has thrown for 275 yds and 3 TDs? Unless you feel Addai or Rhodes will score? If you can predict those kind of things, you should not waste your time here. You have a bigger calling

Back to the topic, the good thing about starting your QB against the Chiefs is that since Thigpen took over the 2nd time, the Chiefs have actually been able to score points and stay competitive in games. This makes starting QBs of opposing teams play until the end and pass to win. Tony Gonzalez is gonna tear the Chargers another one along with Bowe. So expect a 27-24 kinda game ... maybe even more. With that in mind, and considering LT has not been his self in the redzone, there will be lots of chances for Rivers to score here. I expect Gates to be involved more too since he was Mr Goose Egg last game. AFC West games are always fun for FF....all O, no D. Except when the Raiders play....then you just start the opposing D and O.

If the guy thinking of benching Andre Johnson thinks you're crazy...

I am also deciding between Rivers and Cutler, I own Cassel as well. All 3 of those guys got over 20 in my league last week. Had a bye in the first round and I need to pick the right one this week. FBGs has them ranked 5, 7 and 8 right now. with Rivers at 8...ugh! :goodposting:

Alot of hostility forming in this thread. Rivers is traveling from the West to the Midwest and has a 12:00 CST start time. The other two times he has traveled across time zones he has not faired well this season.
