I'd say good luck - it is pretty crazy.
Not sure of your situation and things you value.
IMO the good neighborhoods in the core city always work the best - Congress, Wash Park, Highlands, Park Hill and some others - however price is way out there. The value of living in the city pays off in many ways vs. the burbs. Food, music, bars, shopping, sports venues,festival/fairs, parks, convenience. I raised my family in Capitol Hill and it was great - it really felt like you lived in Denver. A friend of mine lives in a nice area called Virginia Village in the city limits - west of Monaco/north of Evans/East of Holly/South of Cherry Creek - bike paths to downtown. Some decent schools and homes with yards. Denver schools are full of magnet choices - and really you get out what your student puts in.
If you are looking at the burbs watch out for the Douglas County/Highlands Ranch/Castle Rock areas and water. It is going to get ugly down there - always ask where the water is coming from. The difference in your water bill can be big.
I'm not a huge fan of up north I-25 corridor - especially if you commute to Denver - the traffic is rough. Which means - try to live close to where you work. If you will work in Tech Center live down south.
I would look around Lakewood for some value - pay attention to the light rail corridor from Golden if you have to commute. Also old time areas around Littleton(downtown) - probably will go through a big transformation - but still all of these areas are getting pretty picked apart.
Good Luck - rob a bank maybe
