Who has the better 2010: dez bryant or hakeem nicks? (1 Viewer)

I was in the pool

I love dez, but he is a big unknown as a rookie that has not been on the field, but has a better situation opposite Austin. Who you got and how close are the final PPR stats in 2010?

Not seeing how "opposite Austin" is necessarily a better situation.

Anyway, I like Nicks to outperform Dez this year by a factor of eight or so.

I don't think you understand what this phrase means.
I mean to say Hakeem Nicks will have year end totals approximately equal to Dez Bryant's year end totals, if you take Dez Bryant's totals and then multiply them by eight. English is not my native tongue. Do I have this correct?

One is a 2nd year player who is fully healthy and starting on his team. The other is a rookie who missed a lot of camp time because of injury, still may not be 100% and isn't a starter.

This is a no brainier, it's Nicks.

FBG has them neck and neck on their dynasty rankings. Who would you take for the next 5 years?

Eli is going to throw for 4,000 yards with 30 tds. Somebody on the Giants is going to catch a lot of those and have a feeling it's going to be Nicks.

Nicks - 75/1300/12

Smith - 95/1200/8

Manningham - 60/900/6

I own both in PPR.

I think Nicks outscores Dez for the first 8-10 games (Dex will catch and pass by wk11) and probably in total for the year, but that may be the last time Nicks outscores Dez in a season.

BTW, I'm not saying Nicks won't be great. I see him possibly inching into the top 15 this year and top 12 next year. The difference for me is Dez will be top 10 for years (not this year).

Comparing the two talents

Size - very similar in weight and height. Both are very strong and use their boby's well - Even

Speed/Quickness - Dez has a slight edge although neither is a burner....just using the eyeball test, it appears Dez is quicker - Slight Edge to Dez

Hands - Both have great hands - even

Not much difference, if you ask me. What gives Dez the advantage is he just seems to be "one of those guys". Some call it the "it" factor.

Most of this is just my opinion. We will get to see both of them this week in a REAL GAME!!!!!!!!!! That is when we will be able to start the real comparison's. I'm feeling very good about both though :goodposting:

Well, I stand corrected. :goodposting: for end of year follow up.

Yes, you do. No idea what that guy is talking about, unless he is implying that your prediction is absurd - I don't think that is what he was saying though.

Something like if Dez gets 200 yards then Nicks gets 1,600 yards...yeah, I'd say thats a little absurd too.

They both seem to have the make up of top 15 fantasy receivers going forward, I just have a hard time believing bryant will just start out dominating with limited camp work or preseason action in 2010. (reminds me of crabtree from last year in the sense that it will take the first year to get everything going).

Exactly. Not accounting for injury, I think Dez has a floor of 600-800 yards and 4 TDs. Let's multiply that by a factor of 8 and predict that Hicks has the BEST SEASON BY A WR IN THE HISTORY OF THE NFL.

I think you just set yourself up for the "I was accounting for injury, that's why I made that absurd off the wall prediction" rebuttal

If that's what he's predicting, then he should say so. The risk is certainly there, perhaps moreso than with the "average" NFL WR.

 - Nicks will definitely be the better option for the 1st half of the season - but if Im in a keeper league I think Dez will turn it on by mid year and be a true #1 fantasy WR while Nicks will still be a #2.

Agreed. As long as Miles stays healthy, Dez will probably never be double covered this year. I see big things for him in the second half of the season.
