Who is clear cut #1 in NE at WR? (1 Viewer)

The poster asked the Question, Who is the clear cut #1 WR WR WR

Ben Watson is a TE, he is not a WR. Ben Watson will likely be the best receiving option, yet he is still not a WR. How about answering the mans question the way it was asked.

Also when someone says "Who is the #2 WR for the Saints" then the answer is NOT Reggie Bush, he is a RB.

Logic people, it's not that hard.
Yet, for a lot of us that play in leagues that make no distinction between WR/TE, they're all the same to us.You need to relax, and quit the superiority act. It's tired.
Superiority? Give it a rest, I don't do that at all. Well, the poster who posed the question and his content is this "I have heard it will be Caldwell but with Gabriel trade and Jackson the rookie who will emerge as Tom Brady's number 1? He always gets his passing yards so someone has to get them right."Ya think maybe he's in the middle of a draft and Watson could be gone but Caldwell/Gabriel/Brown are still available?

Ya think maybe his draft is over and Watson is rostered and the 3 WRS are not?

Ya think you could just help the guy out with his question without saying a TE is a WR?

Ya think his league uses WR and TE as the same thing like yours?

Ya think ???
I think your not the sharpest knife in the drawer :11:
Yeah, and you have a "Gingrich in 08" signature. All he'll be doing in 08 is driving you in the :11:

There is no clear cut WR but C. Jackson if healthy will quickly become the #1 (sans Branch) and could be a terrifc late round pick.

As for Chase feeling Brady should fall out of the top 10 I must dissagree. As long as Dillon & Maroney are healthy NE will run the ball well. IF NE can run the ball they still have more than enough for an effective passing game with Watson, Graham, Brown, Caldwell, Jackson, Gabriel etc). That combined with the possibility that Branch comes back and a relatively easy schedule keeps Brady in the top 5 IMHO.

What makes you think Jackson becomes the number 1 receiver quickly? Would BB make a rookie WR his number 1? Especially one who hasnt outshined everyone else on the roster?

Two things:Belichick doesn't "make" anyone the #1.

Jackson hasn't practiced in weeks.

So the fact that he hasn't practiced in weeks means he eventually becomes the unofficial number 1? Err..I guess?

No, actually I was agreeing with you, saying he will not not be the #1.

I think a healthy Jackson becomes the number 1 wr quickly because he is the fastest most talented of the bunch. Brown will likely lead in receptions early on but he has little upside, Caldwell has looked great in practice but looks like he MIGHT be struggling with playbook ala Donald Hayes. (IF Caldwell can handle the playbook he is clearly the current #1.) Gabriel might be good but he just got here and hasn't had time to digest the playbook. The team hasn't seen too much of Jackson on the field but what they have seen they have loved. RUMOR alert: I have heard he is pretty close to returning but the team is being extra cautious with him since they tried bringing him back too early once already. If he is still many weeks away I would think they would have pup'd him. In the interest of full disclosure I will also say that I have heard that there are rumors he is struggling with the playbook (I do not believe this).

Having said all that I never advocated selecting Jackson as anything more than a late round (18th rd) pick. IMO he is a player you might take a flyer on and stash away in the hopes he might be valuable later in the season.

Troy Brown had 8 targets, 4 catches for 64 yards in the important 3rd preseason game through 2.5 quarters. Including an endzone target that was picked off but overturned on a penalty. He may be old, he may be a step slower, but he seems to be Brady's only reliable WR target...just remember they hooked up for 100 catches back to back just a few years ago. Seems like everyone is pretending he doesn't exist anymore in here, and I predict he will sniff 1000yds unless Branch comes back soon and he takes more of a 3rd WR role. He knows that offense, and tends to find holes in the defense.
I've got to agree with this. If Branch is out, I'd say Watson will be the #1 target and Brown #2. Especially, to start out the season. Troy Brown is really the "sleeper" in this situation (going late or undrafted). Brady trusts him and the Pats passing game is predicated a lot on timing. Maybe later in the season Gabriel or Jackson will emerge, but early on I think it will be Watson and Brown.
