Who is Lou Marson? (1 Viewer)

Is there a more under the radar starter at catcher, or anywhere? Anyone have any info on him. How long until Santana comes up? Is Marson a possible steal for a #2 C?

The only good thing about him is he has a good batting eye. Since he'll be in the bottom of the order and doesn't have speed or power I wouldn't have him on my cheat sheet. If you're looking for a cheap #2 catcher look up John Baker, JR Towles, or Carlos Ruiz.

One of the Phils better prospects before being traded. The book on him was good defensive catcher, could hit for average but not much pop.

Lou Marson, C – Young catcher, had a big breakthrough offensively in AA last year. Has maybe the best plate discipline in the system, draws tons of walks despite not having much power. Looks like an 8-10 HR a year guy but a line drive swing produces lots of doubles.

Yeah, I know I'm scratching the bottom here, but it's a deep league and a good average would be my best hope. If he could bring a 8/50/50/3 with a .270 average, it's worth a look.

Baker should do that or better and is also available that late, I got him in round 35 of a 50 round startup dynasty. If you're looking for primarily average Marson's a better plan B than Towles and Ruiz but Marson's upside = Baker's expectations at little price difference. Go Baker.

No concern with Paulino?I had Baker in both my leagues last season and he was a great #2.edit: plus I could get Marson a LOT later.
