Who is Peyton throwing to in the Patriots game? (1 Viewer)

Welker and Julius T both sitting today. I think JT has a better chance to play than Welker (anybody know how many concussions Welker has had in his career?).

If they are both out, who gets their targets besides Demaryius, who would obviously get a bump. Dreesen isn't practicing today either. Does Decker go to the slot and Caldwell start outside? Will Holliday be a factor at all?

I would think Moreno would get more targets. Hillman might be active. Bumps for DThomas and Decker and maybe Caldwell becomes relevant for this game?

I expect both to play. Welker may have had a concussion while with NE, but he never missed any time because of one.

Peyton also sat today. Lets see how practices goes tomorrow. ..decker and thomas will be huge if either one doesn't play imo.. not that they aren't great plays already

Here come the excuses already for why the Donkeys lose..

Game time temperature will feel like 8 degrees, with 40 mph winds. Good luck out there Forehead, he's gonna look like Blaine Gabbert on Sunday night.

lolDidnt the pats just get lit up by Brandon LaFell and Tedd Ginn Jr?
Yeah. Newton just threw 3 tds and no picks. Peytons going to light them up with the wrs he has. Ne def is even more beat up now than they were going into mnf. Only way ne wins is for them to outscore denver in a high scoring game

if Julius is out (unlikely), expect Tamme to get some time as the move TE. If Welker is out, I expect Decker to move into the slot and have steady production, with Caldwell getting some time as well... or Decker stays outside, and they go to a 2 TE set with Green or Dreessen. That's probably more likely, especially if it's windy. Take advantage of a fairly soft run D, protect Manning, and play to the strength of available players.

They did a great job vs the Saints awhile ago, dont think this Def is nearly the same though.

I'm still waiting for my future self to come back in time to give me a Greys Sports Almanac. When he, or I, arrives, I'll take a look and let you know

The way a lot of people around here think I'll summarize the wordage for why Welker should have a record setting day:

"Revenge"

"The broncos want to feature Welker against his former team"

All ridiculous. Manning will throw to who manning has thrown to all season: everyone and anyone who is open.

also, he's really good, and he'll be covered by a special teamer, or some guy off the practice squad, from the look of it.

EVen if both Welker and Thomas sit (which I highly doubt), then Thomas and Decker are pretty damn nice consolation prizes to throw to.

Denver has an awful defense, and Forehead plays even worse in the cold AND in Foxboro. There are plenty of ways NE wins this game.

Bitter loser comment
How so? Just stating the obvious.
Because nobody is stating anything about who is going to win or lose the game. People are trying to figure out which players benefit most if Welker and JT don't play. On top of that, your statement is just stupid.

Please don't feed the painfully jealous devouredbychaos.

Peyton has enjoyed several great games in Foxboro, but I am a bit concerned about the game-time temperature.

Jealous about what? I'd like an explanation.

We know Belichick's strategy usually involves taking away the key piece of an offense. It's difficult to guess which piece of the offense he will try to take away. My gut feeling is that he'll try to take Welker away. Manning's bread and butter is short and intermediate passing routes. I think Welker creates a lot of mismatches in the short and intermediate areas. I think they'll attempt to take Welker out of the game and try to force Manning to throw downfield where he can sometimes struggle. I'm also sure they know Welker's strengths and weaknesses rather well.

Welker plays and BB double teams him. Talib on Demaryius. Good day for decker...huge day for JT.
No way the Pats double team Welker. Manning would crucify them.

The key piece IMO is Demaryious, however Denver has so many pieces doubling one of them will certainly cause someone else to be open.

Putting Talib on Demaryious to get abused worse than Steve Smith might not be the best move

They need to generate a big time pass rush without blitzing IMO

Also, Talib is not 100%. He had a setback on Monday night, so I doubt they have him shadow DT the whole game.

As a pats fan, DT is the one that worries me the most. He's going the demolish the banged up secondary.

I've always been surprised Caldwell didn't get more run in the slot. I've always felt he was a better fit there than on the outside, anyway. If Welker's out, I'd see Caldwell playing the slot in 3-WR sets before Decker. But I do agree that we'd see a lot more 2-TE sets, with Jacob Tamme being the de facto "slot receiver" in the lineup. I believe Denver actually listed him as the backup at slot WR on one of their preseason depth charts.

yeah, I don't know why Caldwell doesn't play there, but I don't think he ever has. Every time I've noticed him, he's spelling DT or Decker.

You are sounding a lot like a jealous little kid. I don't know if it is your love for Brady or the pats as a whole. Basically you are making statements that have no facts supporting them. I am not saying you are but when you talk like that it makes you sound very juvenile.

Pretty sure this is the prevailing belief because everyone witnessed Romo go off vs Den D. While they were brutally horrid that game, things have gotten better since. Actually, Den has a top 5 run D this season. Also, Den D has not allowed > 300 yds passing in last 5 games. Some of that has to do with them beginning to jell as the season progresses, some has to do with Von Miller's reemergence, who they were without for the first 6 weeks.

Denver has a top-5 run D because teams are consistently playing from behind and abandoning the running game. Look at the stats in context.
