Who is the #8 rookie in FF?

  • Matt Ryan

    Votes: 0 0.0%
  • Steve Slaton

    Votes: 0 0.0%

  • Total voters

I voted for Matt Ryan seeing I feel he will go to a bleak QB situation and have a chance to start from day 1. I'm not sure about Slaton because of the lack luster year he had at WV. His speed is tremendous but not sure if he'll ever be an every down back.

just wondering, what is the purpose of having a run off? Matt Ryan won the #8 vote by 4 votes over Slaton in the other thread, why make this one? If you're gonna make a run off for whenever the end voting is close, then you're gonna end up making a run off for every single pick left.

It is just the way things have been done with these polls the past few years. There have been several times the guy with more votes ended up losing the poll in the run off. If I ended it with him leading by 4 votes, there would've been people complaining about that too. :goodposting:

I thought these things were supposed to show who the consensus of people would vote for if it was their pick in a real rookie draft.

There were 96 people that voted for someone other than Ryan/Slaton in the last poll. Theoretically, now those 96 will vote for one of these 2 and we wil have a consensus.

Matt Ryan has already won the consensus vote in the other poll. Now this just gets horribly unrealistic. When a person has the 8th pick in a rookie draft, they will not be forced to choose between these 2 players.

So...why are we doing these? These could be completely turned over in a couple of months. Why not wait until after the draft?

Chill. These are simply meant to be a fun way to discuss early thoughts on the draft. Obviously Ryan and Slaton are considered close right now, so he does a run-off. I personally probably wouldn't bother with the run-off, but there's fair reason for it. If it were me (and it's not), I'd just consider any player within a 5% margin of error to be tied for the pick and move on. These aren't scientific polls, so if they generate discussion, that's to be encouraged.

Chill? I was just asking a question. And so far it still hasnt been answered.

Ryan takes this one, Slaton is #9
jeter, just want to say great job with these (this year and in previous years).don't understand why there's so much heat on how these are handled. its just an informal poll people to gather some information to use however you want. if you don't like it, make your own poll with whatever system you think is best.

Thanks Burns. These polls are not meant to speak for FBG staff, or to tell FBGs how they have to pick. I think it is just a good chance for us to have discussion and see how the tiers are looking at this early point. With the draft class this year, almost all of these polls will be very close and could go either way.

If you didn't understand the first response, this debate is a lost cause. Don't like it, go start your own polls & rankings.
