Who is the Backup running back in Indy? (1 Viewer)

Colts released RB DeDe Dorsey.

Wow. Dorsey was expected by most to backup Joseph Addai this season, but with Clifton Dawson also being cut, that job now belongs to CFL star Kenton Keith. Expect the Colts to make an addition off waivers. Sep. 1 - 7:40 pm et

The Indy backup RB is very valuable. Find out who he is before he hits waivers and it might be the best FA add all year!

Hi Chaser,Looks like they're going to go with former CFL player Kenton Keith. At least for now.J

I'm skeptical. Rhodes wasn't that wonderful a guy to have, as I recall.

Guys, Addai was a RBBC guy in college and managed to sustain several injuries. He was RBBC much of the time last year. End of year he took on more of the full load but still.

Anyone thinking the #2 RB in Indy has no value has an open invitation to invite me to join their league. That offense could make Joe Bryant a solid #2 fantasy back if Addai were to go down.

Mewelde Moore is a back who can help out on third down. He's no between the tackles grinder but he'd be a nice fit.

antonio Pittman is intriguing, more a 1st and 2nd down back than third down guy.

I've got a feeling the CFL guy will have some company before it's all said and done in 2007.

Did the Vikes cut Fason?

Does Kevan Barlow have enough to at least backup here?
I would rather they go after Pittman. Barlow has proven to be a failure too many times. Maybe Pittman just got caught up in the numbers game. At least with Pittman we don't know if he's garbage. With Barlow, we pretty much know that already.

Kenton Keith outplayed everyone listed in this thread in the preseason. He just lacks the name recognition that some of the others have.

You guys are seriously undervaluing this guy. He was a rushing star in the CFL. Keith is more of a homerun threat than Addai and could represent real value if Addai ever gets hurt.Unless Keith sleeps with one of his OL's wife like he did in Saskatchewan...then he'll get his butt kicked and miss a game with a mysterious injury.

;) Dude, sorry all five of us missed our blocks that time and the D's entire front four met you in the backfield. We just heard you were good at finding holes you shouldn't be in.

According to the Indy Star, Keith had 12 rushes for 64 yards in the pre-season. And Colts RBs usually stink in the pre-season (see Addai last pre-season). Dorsey had 28 rushes for 78 yards, and a fumble. And Keith did a good job in pass protection from what I saw - much better than Dorsey did (a big key if you want to play for the Colts). Since Luke Lawton is the #3 RB right now, I still think they can use another RB on the team - but Keith is the #2 and will be for the next few weeks at a minimum.

I like the thought of Pittman but I'd also be happy to see any of these guys:

Ciatrick Fason

Artose Pinner

Avion Cason

Verron Haynes

They've all got low miles on them and have decent stats for their limited time on the field.

Keith was a the best RB back in the CFL last season and from watching the preseason this year he has added bulk to play in the NFL. He was blocking very well, and running well between the tackles getting those tough yards.

I think Indy was very happy with what they saw out of Keith and he will enter the season as RB 2 on one of the best and most consistent offenses in the league. Pick him up asap.

I don't see it happening. Look at the guys CFL stats, 19 fumbles!!! What happens when he's playing against NFL defenses? :goodposting:

The Colts kept him despite that. Tells me something...possibly that NFL coaching can help him protect the ball better.

I agree - that's a lot of fumbles. The 6+ yards per carry was interesting to me, though. Another thing I've noticed is that there's a large discrepancy between his listed weight on nfl.com, the Colts Website, and just about every other fantasy source out there and what's listed @ kentonkeith.com. The NFL lists him @ 189 lbs, whereas the other one lists him @ 210. That's a huge difference - short of Warrick Dunn, I can't think of a RB that's been able to carry the load if needed weighing in the 180's. 210, by contrast, is near what I usually consider an ideal RB weight of 220. I have to believe that the 210 listed on his site is just wishful thinking?
