His college HC was Woody Hayes.
He was the leader on the '68 National Champs that famously had 10 Sophomore starters (remember, Freshman didn't play D-I until 1972). In his Junior year, OSU lost 24-11 in a big upset to Michigan in Schembechler's first season. I don't remember much about the '70 squad, but IIRC only the Buckeyes and Wolverines won league titles and Rose Bowl bids in the 10 years Woody and Bo coached against each other.ETA:

27-2 over 3 years. The first loss was actually by a 24-12 score to Michigan. The other loss for the Super Sophomores was to Stanford, quarterbacked by Jim Plunkett.

Yep, that was in the amazing documentary "Michigan vs. Ohio State: The Rivalry" which first aired last year. Woody was livid at the loss.For those who haven't seen that HBO presentation, set your Tivo to record it when it airs again. One of the best docs I've ever seen.

I grew up in a small town in Michigan. My parents best friends moved there from Columbus. Both families (and a bunch of other local folks and Ohio transplants) would get together every year to watch the big game. The Ohio people were so freaking obnoxious with their chants and songs ("We don't give a damn about the whole state of Michigan"). Good times.
BTW, the other game that sticks out for the Super Sophs was the 1969 Rose Bowl. USC had a Juco transfer who had been tearing it up - won the crosstown rival game when he ripped off a 64 yarder against UCLA. But Ohio State shut down O.J. Simpson and won 27-16 to complete their perfect 10-0 season.
Was that Woody's last National Championship? Think so...all I remember is he won four, and Bo...well, four less.
Being from Ohio and a Buckeye fan since the early 70's I know what this rivalry means to both schools, even today...BUT, when Woody and Bo were coaching it meant EVERYTHING to them to win that game every year...anyone that is a fan of college football should definitely watch this.

Uh, hell no. The Aggies of Texas hold that title by far. Even when they're gettign the s**t kicked out of them, down by 50, with 5 to go against UT. And the chants involve UT being not good.
