who is the smartest guy here? (1 Viewer)

I'd say I'm comfortable being just average to slightly above average intelligence. Seems like too much work to be really smart.

Joe or David

In all likelihood very very rich and it's all because we come here to BS with each other on a daily basis.

When fatguyinalittlecoat argued that Jesus was the most annoying celebrity in the first smack down, he moved way up the charts in my book.

It's MT and not just because so much of his legal analysis goes flying right over my head. He doesn't appear to have the least little agenda; instead, he's always burrowing into things for the truth.

I've received a few :goodposting: from MT before. Made me feel good. Of course, I'm pretty those were times I was basically just regurgitating something I heard from someone else and it wasn't exactly some original, smart idea of my own. But, hey, I'll take a :goodposting: from a super smart guy any day.

I think the reason MT is in the lead here is because of the wide range of topics on which he can speak intelligently and that he is very objective on everything. Also, it helps that he isn't usually an ### to those he disagrees with.

Another vote for MT.

Smart smart, methodical, objective, reasonable and never takes it personally. There are a lot of people who check three or four of those boxes, but only a few who hit all five IMO.

His biggest shortcoming, from what I can tell, is seemingly (at least to me) very little sense of humor. Always on point, very smart, etc.... but i cannot remember mustering even a chuckle reading any of his posts.

Sarnoff had a post in the quantum physics thread that really impressed me.

NCCommish is pretty close to me politically, so I always feel he gets it.

But Chet is rich, so that means he's a lucky SOB or he knows stuff we don't.

Oh - and Offdee has a scale. Anyone with his own scale.....I mean....come on...gotta be worth some IQ points, right?

Maybe this is why I'm baffled by the love in here. I can't recall a single thing MT has ever done. The guy is a nonentity for me. Other smart people are always on my radar, Pickles, K4, Tanner, etc. MT? Never. And yet, he's apparently brilliant.

BTW in case no one got it (if you cared) my K4 anti-feminism shtick was just crappy shtick. She's scary smart sometimes, though you don't always get to see it on the board here.

Gotta love Tim and Bluemagic\DSP in here trying to make the thread about them.

I think he's a Vulcan.

BTW, special props to Vader there for being (as far as I've noticed) the only guy to drop literary and philosophical allusions into posts for apparently nobody's amusement but his own. I adore intellectual masturbation.

I'd say I'm comfortable being just average to

slightly above average intelligence. Seems like

too much work to be really smart.
You have no idea what a burden it is
Yes, it's truly awful and a giant being intelligent enough to get an advanced degree which means one will never have to work a labor job ever again and be generally financially secure for the rest of ones life.

Yeah I think it's natural to vote for people to vote for those smarter than them in the areas in which they are intelligent. For me, since I don't know jack about science, it's hard for me to vote for the science guys (sorry picks). I know law and have some general smarts in statistics. Accordingly, people who are much smarter than me in these areas get my vote. Otis, krista, and bb all do types of law if be clueless. Henry ford is just plain smarter than I am. I have huge respect for the intellect of the stats/poker guys

like assani, Eddie, et al. Probably the best mixture of all this is Maurile or chase Stuart and I think both those guys are brilliant.

However my vote goes to instinctive. Anyone who can start a thread where he's debating amongst scholarships at Yale, Harvard, and Chicago is smarter than I can comprehend.

Those a highly intelligent people. You should do some research in to the super geniuses.

Its never that simple for them.

rabidfireweasel is a darkhorse candidate here.

The guy is a painting professor, a self-sufficient artist, but even he'll admit it's only the second best thing he's good at. His first is poker. And when I mean good, I mean the guy is mind boggling amazing at the game - he used to rake backroom sharks all the time. But that lifestyle isn't conducive to a long life or raising a family, which he realizes, hence painting. This only makes him even smarter in my book.

His posts, while limited to stuff he knows well, are always well thought out and even funny.

I think we've got plenty of smart people here, in their own way at least. I think we all interpret intelligence a little differently. I for one, value someone who innovates ideas rather than someone who simply mimics the idea of others.

I'll hedge my future on the guy who's willing to think outside the box.
