not so much who will be the worst stat wise......but who won't deliver for why they were brought in....

Tanny was a FA....he could have gone elsewhere....they (TEN) could have gone a different direction....I'm assuming Hoyer wasn't brought in to be "the man"....I'd argue that Ten doesn't have a fa qb. And the answer is ne.
I think they still haven't brought in "their guy" yet. Just waiting for dalton/cams price to go down.Tanny was a FA....he could have gone elsewhere....they (TEN) could have gone a different direction....I'm assuming Hoyer wasn't brought in to be "the man"....![]()
Sure....but that’s not where we are at just yet....thus not included.....discussion later possibly with NEI think they still haven't brought in "their guy" yet. Just waiting for dalton/cams price to go down.
NE is not bringing in a FA QB, so how are they even eligible?I'd argue that Ten doesn't have a fa qb. And the answer is ne.
Say what? They gave the guy over $100 million contract with 62 fully guaranteed. They were very well could bring in somebody else, but it won’t be as a starter.I think they still haven't brought in "their guy" yet. Just waiting for dalton/cams price to go down.
New England did what?Say what? They gave the guy over $100 million contract with 62 fully guaranteed. They were very well could bring in somebody else, but it won’t be as a starter.
Sorry I saw the quote was referring to Tannehill. My bad.New England did what?
That’s the direction I lean because I think the expectations are so high. People expect Brady to be a SB contender every year.voted Tampa. sorry Goat
That might be true, though I would agree with gally that rivers And the colts have the lowest floorThat’s the direction I lean because I think the expectations are so high. People expect Brady to be a SB contender every year.
That’s fair though I think when you are 43 years old in the NFL, your floor is as low as it gets. That might be true, though I would agree with gally that rivers And the colts have the lowest floor
I assume most people have low expectations for them? That’s my thought process. Not sure how Teddy isn't #1 on this list
While I admit he didn't look great last year without an offensive line, he was 4300-32-12 two years ago.Voted Indy. Rivers looked lost over the last couple seasons
Exactly.I think it's Tannehill, based on what they paid and how long they committed to him. I think there's a better than 50% chance he turns back into a pumpkin this year.
Even in his "awful" year Rivers threw for 4615yards last season behind one of the worst OL's in football(as usual). And he's replacing a guy that threw for 2942yards in 15 starts behind one of the best OL's in football. People that think that is some sort of lateral move are just wrong-headed imo. While I admit he didn't look great last year without an offensive line, he was 4300-32-12 two years ago.
Is this an April fools joke? The Colts are a Super Bowl contender in my eyes. They have arguably the league's best OL, a good young defense, that just added a top-10 DL, and serviceable weapons, that will look a lot better with their much improved QB play.
Its a cop out answer, but I think all 4 of these teams will be happy with their QB's this year.
I agree that the Colts and Titans are going to be the top-2 teams in the division, but I think you may be overrating some of these issues.Exactly.
That TEN team(that got deep into the playoffs by running Henry ~30 times a game, good luck doing that for a full season) spent all that money to keep Tannehill and in so doing lost an awful lot....
- replaced Conklin with Sambrailo which is a huge downgrade in OL..... the whole reason they got deep in the playoffs to begin with.
- they suddenly needed salary cap relief so they traded away Jurrell Casey for a bottle cap collection so a big downgrade at DL
- Logan Ryan is almost assuredly going to sign somewhere else so a substantial downgrade at DB
- even if you don't like Mariota it's hard to argue they aren't weaker at QB depth than they were last year
- even if the plan is to run Henry on 1st, 2nd, and 3rd down it's hard to argue that losing Dion Lewis isn't a drop in depth at the RB position
- lost Walker so they are less deep at TE
- lost Sharpe which is a downgrade at WR depth
I'm actually a bigger Vic Beasley fan than most so I would say replacing Cameron Wake with Beasley is probably a positive but based on what most people say about Beasley it may not be that big an upgrade.
IMO if Rivers has another below average season and Tannehill has a slightly above average season then INDY finishes at least 2 games over TEN this season. If Rivers has an average season and Tannehill has an average season then INDY finishes closer to 4 games over TEN this season. But let's say I'm wrong and Rivers is an absolute BUST..... then INDY simply walks away from his contract at the end of the year and goes a different direction next year with no salary cap implications. TEN will be regretting that Tannehill contract for years. They gave Tannehill a substantial commitment bigger than Rivers.... and Brees.... and Tom Brady. Tannehill has been in the NFL since 2012 and has played like a $30mil QB for PART of ONE season. I'd say the chance Tannehill plays like, well Tannehill, is well over 50%.
I see no reason why they aren't a top-10 team net season, and they had some really bad injury luck last season. I think the division is neck and neck with them and the Titans. That makes them a contender in my opinion. Is this an April fools joke?
Texans have won that division 4 out of 6 years with Bill o brien, despite his stupid Nuk trade you can’t dismiss them. They have the best qb in the division. I don’t see any of these teams as real contenders. I’d say it’s more of a 3 way run for the division, and the jags will win some games they shouldn’t. Maybe with expanded playoffs there’s a wildcard team here.I agree that the Colts and Titans are going to be the top-2 teams in the division, but I think you may be overrating some of these issues.
Sambrailo is not Conklin's replacement. Right now, its Dennis Kelly, who was solid when Conklin/Lewan were out, he's a downgrade sure, but he's ok. Its also possible they take a guy like Austin Jackson or Ezra Cleveland(or maybe Josh Jones falls) at 29.
They gave away Casey sure, but they already had his replacement in Simmons. Its possible(probably 50-50) that ends up being an upgrade, though obviously you'd prefer to have kept both.
Logan Ryan is an above average slot CB, but he's not a huge loss. Its also possible he's not a loss at all. Even then, Amani Hooker could reasonably replace him.
Dion Lewis is easily replaceable in the draft, as is Sharpe. They should also have a healthy Humphries which combined with Brown having a year under his belt, I would argue the WR group should be better this year.
Walker is irrelevant, he barely played last year. Had zero to do with their playoff run.
Really Conklin is the only major loss in my opinion.
Side note, if the Steelers don't stupidly switch to Hodges at QB, they likely snag the 6th seed, and the Titans miss the playoffs. The chain reaction there would have been interesting. Is Tannehill considered the QB going forward without the playoff wins? Is Henry perhaps allowed to walk? If Pittsburgh grabs the 6 seed, they likely lose to NE, if the Pats win a playoff game, do they keep Brady? Without the Titans to upset them, do we get Ravens/Chiefs in the AFC Title game, and if so, does KC win? All of those are interesting questions, that were put in motion simply because Tomlin made a bad move at QB, costing the Steelers 1-2 games.

I think the Hopkins trade is huge, and that the Texans have been pretty lucky to win 4 of the last 6. Watson is great, but there is so little around him right now, I'm not sure it matters much. This team has an air of incompetence around it right now, starting at the top. This feels like a 6-10/8-8 team to me. I don't think this will be a good team on offense or defense.Snorkelson said:Texans have won that division 4 out of 6 years with Bill o brien, despite his stupid Nuk trade you can’t dismiss them. He isn't 40+. Pretty simple. You might not like him, but his resume speaks for itself.hispeedthinmint said:Not sure how Teddy isn't #1 on this list
I agree with you for the most part, just saying there is another team there that has gotten it done (even before watson) that needs to be at least mentioned since they’ve taken 4 of the last 6. I think all 3 of these teams could finish between 6-10/10-6.I think the Hopkins trade is huge, and that the Texans have been pretty lucky to win 4 of the last 6. To expand that point further, I'd be surprised if Watson was the best QB in the division this year, at least from a passer rating perspective. Its entirely possible the passing game becomes average without a true #1 WR. I think the Texans are more likely to be picking in the top-10(well, the Dolphins with that pick anyway) then they are to win the division.

I think it's because expectations are the lowest for Teddy and the Panthers so the bar to disappoint is much different than the others. He's the youngest on the list and the lowest paid. If CAR was to draft a QB they could afford both a rookie and Teddy so he's essentially a bridge QB that could also serve as one of the best backups in the league if a rookie was to develop and beat him out. Teddy also has some sneaky good weapons around him and has the best security blanket on the list with McCaffrey taking pressure off of him in both the running and passing game.hispeedthinmint said:Not sure how Teddy isn't #1 on this list
Couldn't disagree more. Last year was definitely evidence of yours being the unpopular opinion.Yea, Teddy is a game manager. Nothing more. Rivers is still better.
travdogg said:I'm not shocked(though I couldn't disagree more) with the Rivers answers. From a team standpoint, I'd argue he's the one who improves his team the most. People really don't realize how awful Brisset is/was. I would strongly disagree about Rivers looking lost, or that he'll be too short on supporting cast to be effective. His supporting cast is better than its been with the Chargers for years. He has 4 OL who are much better than anybody the Chargers had. Hilton is a playmaker unlike any he's ever had, Doyle is a solid dumpoff option, and Campbell is the perfect RAC weapon for him. Even Hines is a nice outlet guy. They'll likely add another name in the draft, possibly as high as 34.
