if that list is true, none of those yankees bother me being on the list.
:lmao:oh enough, already
:X I think Sox fans with Varitek and Cardinals fans with Pujols have alot more to be bothered about than me
Why?
Varitek is the Sox captain and heart and soul. I equate him being named to Jeter being named for the Yanks. Pujols is the best player in the league possibly. I equate him being named to ARod being named for the Yanks. Just like I said on page 1, Ill be disappointed if only 3 names are mentioned Jeter, ARod, and Mariano. My stance hasnt changed. Clemens doesnt surprise me one bit and Pettitte was his butt buddy so he doesnt surprise me either.

From another board. Not sure how accurate:

Brady Anderson, Manny Alexander, Rick Ankiel, Jeff Bagwell, Barry Bonds, Aaron Boone, Rafaeil Bettancourt, Bret Boone, Milton Bradley, David Bell, Dante Bichette, Albert Belle, Paul Byrd, Wil Cordero, Ken Caminiti, Mike Cameron, Ramon Castro, Jose and Ozzie Canseco, Roger Clemens, Paxton Crawford, Wilson Delgado, Lenny Dykstra, Johnny Damon, Carl Everett, Kyle Farnsoworth, Ryan Franklin, Troy Glaus, Rich Garces :lmao: , Jason Grimsley, Troy Glaus, Juan Gonzalez, Eric Gagne, Nomar Garciaparra, Jason Giambi, Jeremy Giambi, Jose Guillen, Jay Gibbons, Juan Gonzalez, Clay Hensley, Jerry Hairston, Felix Heredia, Jr., Darren Holmes, Wally Joyner, Darryl Kile :X , Matt Lawton, Raul Mondesi, Ma rk McGwire, Guillermo Mota, Robert Machado, Damian Moss, Abraham Nunez, Trot Nixon, Jose Offerman, Andy Pettitte, Mark Prior, Neifi Perez, Rafael Palmiero, Albert Pujols, Brian Roberts, Juan Rincon, John Rocker, Pudge Rodriguez, Sammy Sosa, Scott Schoenweiis, David Segui, Alex Sanchez, Gary Sheffield, Miguel Tej ada, Julian Tavarez,Fernando Tatis, Maurice Vaughn, Jason Varitek, Ismael Valdez, Matt Williams and Kerry Wood
Cant say any of these names surprise me.
Abraham Nunez surprises me. The guy has 18 career HRs in 11 seasons. If I were him, I'd ask for my money back.

while i think that any yankees being named sucks, i think the red sox take a harder hit if this is the actual list. Varitek, Nixon AND Damon??? Those were the 3 guys that basically defined the whole "idiots" persona.

Given Mitchell's connection to the Red Sox, how fishy will it be if a bunch of Yankees are named and no Red Sox?
Might want to go easy on the conspiracy there, fellow. Guy has a bit of a positive reputation.
ESPN.com - Buster Olney's article "Will there be a Red Sox player named in the report?Because of Mitchell's affiliation with the team, that is a question being asked by more than a handful of executives around the game. "seemed like a legit question

I don't know about Nixon and Varitek defining the "idiots" persona. More like Manny and Millar. But yeah, Tek and Nixon would probably hurt a Sox fan more than those two guys. I would assume Sox fans would be most bothered in this order:Ortiz...Varitek......Schilling.Nomar..............................anyone else

The only non-Yankee I don't want to see on the list is Griffey.

In my mind, if he is clean, he was the best player of the nineties and would be the best player that I have watched in my lifetime.

I can always hold onto the thought that he played clean and if everyone had been on a level playing field he would have been what I would tell my future kids about, not the debacle from the bash brothers until today.

I am a Yankee fan who previously looked down on Bonds breaking the record. Now, it sounds like so many people were juicing that I can't hold anything agianst Bonds. Or, create a different record book from 1986-2010 and treat the last 24 years like the replacement players of 1994.

all teams take a hit. mlb takes hit. but those 2 guys stood out to me for some reason

You can dismiss Pettite if you want, but you and I, and all of New York and Boston, know what he means to the Yankees.

i dont dismiss pettite and clemens. its a big hit, no question. But its not even close to the hit that jeter, Rivera, Bernie or O'neil would have brought (at least for me) Clemens was pretty much a given, and pettite was so close to him it was expected.

Don't forget about the Big Hurt...everyone forgets about the Big Hurt! He was the friggin Big Hurt! He and Griffey defined the 90's hitter...http://www.baseball-reference.com/t/thomafr04.shtml

Actually Pettite is the only Yankee on the list that bothers me. That one would hurt bad. Probably my favorite "pitched" game of the last 10 years for the Yanks - Game 5 vs the Braves in 96. I would imagine Pettite was clean early on and then started this mess when Clemens came on board. That doesn't make it much better though.Clemens, Sheffield, Giambi - I think we all knew that right?

Never got into Thomas like I did with Griffey, though I did respect his game. (I think this was because I had the full set of 89 Griffey rookies, but could never obtain the Leaf Frank Thomas that was his best rookie card.) But your point is valid, if Thomas is on the list, especially after his comments, it will be one more blow to baseball for me.

I would be surprised if Thomas is on it. He's been probably the most outspoken player on roids. One of the few guys who pushed hard FOR testing.

As long as Jeter and Mo aren't on the list, I wouldn't be particularly saddened. Obviously I'm hoping guys like Pettitte, Clemens, and Tino aren't on it but I have a strong suspicion that they are.

Aside from the names who have already been directly linked in some way (either through Grimsely, Canseco, BALCO, or the recent Florida/Albany cases), I'd say Piazza, Hundley, Bagwell, Luis Gonzalez have GOT to be on. Plus Gonzalez and Tino are BFF from their Tampa days, so it wouldn't be shocking to see the two of them on there. A few more potentials:

Jeff Kent >>>>>>>

Edgardo Alfonzo >>>>>>>>>>> All three with a Mets connection to Radomsky

Jeromy Burnitz >>>>>>>

Julio Franco

Todd Helton

Larry Walker

Jim Thome

Juan Gonzalez

Jim Edmonds

Adrian Beltre

Javy Lopez

Shawn Green

Frank Thomas

Mark Teixeira (dark horse)

Bret Boone (though I think he was implicated by Canseco at one point)

Richard Hidalgo

I wonder how far back the names go. Like, is it 60-80 CURRENT players? Because guys like Jay Bell (38 HR in 1999) and Kevin Elster (24 HR in 1996) are mortal locks for having taken roids at some point. But if the list is only current, fairly recent guys OR focuses exclusively on the big names, then guys like this won't be anywhere on it even though they're obvious.
Frank Thomas? Hasn't he been one of the most outspoken guys against steroids? I know he was pushing for more/stricter testing.
Um, perhaps you missed the episode of Saved By the Bell when Jeff was supposedly mister anti-drugs, but then he offered pot to Zach and the gang at a party?Things aren't always what they appear!

Sure, and I am sure a lot of the names make sense. As far as which names bother people, even if NO Red Sox were on the list, I know that some of their players used. It bothers me, but I don't care if it was Mark Bellhorn, Jason Varitek, or whoever.

I guess it bothers a lot of people if their favorite players, or the ones that are the "core" of the team, are on the list. Some guy that was a free agent, there for a few years - that falls under the bothers me, but what can you do, it was everywhere.

say Tek is not on the list, does that mean he is clean? definitely not. Same goes for Manny, Ortiz, Jeter, ARod, et al. Calling out 2% of the league when they know the use is probably well over 50% seems like a strange move.

Supposedly MLB is denying the leaked list saying there are errors on it.
I sure hope Tek is one of them. Like some of you have said that's a big disappointing one as a fan. Damon, Nixon, Nomar aren't shocking or upsetting at all.

The only non-Yankee I don't want to see on the list is Griffey. In my mind, if he is clean, he was the best player of the nineties and would be the best player that I have watched in my lifetime. Or, create a different record book from 1986-2010 and treat the last 24 years like the replacement players of 1994.
So you believe that only players who have taken steriods are the one's listed in the Mitchell Report?

That's a very fair point. Obviously the "list" is just names that came out based on investigating the couple of exposed sources they had, and there are surely many unexposed (so far) sources out there. But I'd still rather my favorite "good guys" not be on this list than be on it. At least that means there's a chance they are clean.

Not at all, but if he hasn't been linked and if he is not connected through the Mitchell report, I can at least maintain plausable deniability that a few of the guys that I watched as I grew up were great.Another bad one for me would be Kirk Gibson. Everyone was a Dodger fan in '88

It's ridiculous to even consider that Red Sox players may be on this list. There must be some bad information or a mistake in the investigation.
