I think I know what the consensus will be.
Just want to see if I'm right.

I thought this would be about 2:1 in Vick's favor. Never expected a 4:1 ratio.Michael Vick [ 22 ] ** [81.48%]Matt Schaub [ 5 ] ** [18.52%]
How many dimensions does Shaub have?Without a doubt Schaub. You can actually have a passing offense with him instead of 1 dimensional with Vick.
Michael Vick is a pitiful excuse for a QB. He will never learn to play QB. He is a knee injury away from being a back up QB. ONce he starts to lose his mobility he is practically useless. Schaub has the potential to be a solid QB.Without a doubt Schaub. You can actually have a passing offense with him instead of 1 dimensional with Vick.
So you chose potential over the next 6 years?Michael Vick is a pitiful excuse for a QB. He will never learn to play QB. He is a knee injury away from being a back up QB. You can put Schaub on your team (if it's not the Texans).Lets see here. Vick has a better completion percentage, better QB rating, better TD to INT ratio in his career than Schaub, oh and he can run the ball too as an added bonus. Schaub "backed up" Vick, that should be a little indicator right there, oh and yeah the Houston O-Line is the worst in the NFL bar none.
The Falcons have a shot at the Super Bowl with Schaub. He is a QB. Vick is a runner who occasionally throws the ball. I think they are trying to run the WCO. Vick just can't do that. He can't read the coverage. He can't look off receivers. The Falcons are always going to struggle with him at QB. He can have some great games running the ball, but consistently moving an offense is never going to be within his abilities. I always thought it was a lack of receivers, but no matter who the receivers are the same problems occur. I've come to recognize that Vick will always be overrated because of his potential.Lets see here. I'll roll with Vick!
Of course they do with that immaculate winning record that Schaub has.The Falcons have a shot at the Super Bowl with Schaub.
Obviously if Shaub can complete a pass it will open up the run game. So you'd have 2 dimesions. Run and Pass. Don't you want your QB to be able to pass the ball? It's a much more important facet of the QB position than running. How many yards did Vick run for last year? How many playoff games did they win?How many dimensions does Shaub have?
Tom Brady backed up Drew Bledsoe too. What's your point?Lets see here. I'll roll with Vick!
Hasn't Atlanta been near the top of the rushing rankings quite often the past few years?I don't think that was all because of Vick's rushing stats. Dunn did quite well, also.Obviously if Shaub can complete a pass it will open up the run game. So you'd have 2 dimesions. Run and Pass. How many dimensions does Shaub have?
And as Balt proved with Dilfer a great run game and a top defense is all you need for your QB to get all that. Vick is not a QB. People blame his WRs yet he has no touch, no timing and by the time he gets to throwing the ball the wrs have been on the move for 20 mins. They figure he is going to run and then a 100mph dart is bouncing off their hands. Vick's legs may help win games but his lack of passing ablity will never get him anywhere. And when their D struggles (as it has in the last year or 2), he wont be able to "put the team on his back and lead them to a win himself".If all you want is to sell tix and make money go with Vick. If you want to win championships, take a shot with Schaub.Jedimaster21 said:I think Schaub will be a very good QB if he gets surrounded by any talent in Houston. He is smart and has very solid physical tools. I also think that Vick has shown that he has trouble standing in the pocket and reading a defense consistently. Vick can also be very inaccurate throwing the ball. Despite saying all this, however, this shouldn't be much of a discussion. Vick is one of the most marketable players in the NFL, sells tons of tickets, and can put the team on his back and lead them to a win himself. He has one of the best winning percentages in the NFL, and has several playoff victories and one championship game appearance. He may not be a traditional QB, but he wins games and creates more fear in the hearts of D coordinators than maybe any other player. There is just no answer for him, and even if he doesn't reach his true potential, he is still a great player.Schaub has potential, but let's see him have one winning season before choosing him over Michael Vick.
I think you're proving the point for going with Shaub. If Dunn did quite well rushing and it wasn't all Vick, do they really need a QB who runs well and can't pass. Wouldn't you want your QB to be a guy who was a better pocket passer (while the jury is still out on whether Shaub can do that, we know Vick is limited in that facet of the game)? It would give your team the option of pass AND run. It would also make your play action much more effective. Which would make your offense more effective.Hasn't Atlanta been near the top of the rushing rankings quite often the past few years?I don't think that was all because of Vick's rushing stats. Since Vick has been a starter his teams have gone:9-6-111-58-87-9Missed the playoffs last 2 years. When he started you could say that he had one of the best winning %'s but after the last 2 years I don't think that is still true. I doubt he's in the top 5. And the Falcons are only 2-2 in the playoffs under Vick.He has one of the best winning percentages in the NFL, and has several playoff victories and one championship game appearance.
So Vick has more playoff victories than Schaub has regular season victories.Since Vick has been a starter his teams have gone:9-6-111-58-87-9Missed the playoffs last 2 years. Although I do agree with some of your assessments, I think you are being a little too harsh. I have seen him make some amazing throws, and he has had some great games staying in the pocket and making plays in the passing game. If he can get more consistent with this (and hopefully Petrino will assist him), then he could possibly be the greatest weapon ever to walk on the field. There are just a few problems with your points:1. Ticket sales and merchandise are a very important piece of a franchise. Vick is a household name, and although this is FAR from the most important factor, it should play into a decision on which QB you would rather have.2. There are very few players that can make an impact on an opponents game plan the way Vick does. Schaub will never be that type of player. 3. All of your arguments are dependent on Matt Schaub turning into a great starter in the NFL. If he is so accurate, and Vick isn't, why is Vick's career competion percentage higher? Vick has thrown for 10, 000 more yards, 65 more Tds, and has 3800 rushing yards and 21 TDs rushing. I know that the sample size for Schaub is small, but don't you want to see him start more than two games before choosing him over someone who puts up these numbers? And as Balt proved with Dilfer a great run game and a top defense is all you need for your QB to get all that.
