Who's going to break a record this year? (1 Viewer)

Just off the top of my head I know...

LT had the most touchdowns in a season two years ago with 31 (2006)

Brady broke the most TD passes in a season with 50 (2007)

Moss broke the single-season receiving TD record with 23 (2007)

Adrian Peterson broke the single-game rushing record with 296 yards (2007)

So that leads to my question...

Any big records getting broke this year?

Have to exclude Favre, as he can exceed his own records weekly.

Dante Hall may be close to the career return TD mark.

I'll throw 5 out there

Devin Hester shatters the all-time record for return TD's with another 4 this year.

A not so bold prediction, but I think Dwayne Bowe will become the 1st Kansas City WR to ever top 80 catches in a season.

This is a bold one, Joseph Addai breaks the Colts all-time record for rushing TD's in a season. The current record is held by Lenny Moore with 16.

Very bold, Laurence Maroney breaks Curtis Martin's single season rushing TD record for New England with 15.

Finally, the New England Patriots become the 1st team to ever have 2 straight undefeated regular seasons.

I like the first 4 of these - in decending order of likelihood, but I wouldn't use "shatters" with Hester. Honestly, Hester has a chance of passing Rice for career all-purpose yards when everything is done, but it will take a while. The 5th can't happen "first".

What do you mean can't happen first? What other team has done it?

Unless I'm completely wrong, Canton or Pottsville or somebody else way back in the first few years of the NFL. I tried looking for that in the record & fact book, no such luck - couldn't find fewest team losses. I don't think the Browns did it in the AAFC, nor do I think it was done in the AFL.If you're only talking modern NFL, they'd be first, but when you reference Lenny Moore & "ever", I figure it's enitire history.

Pottsville never went undefeated, but the Canton Bulldogs did go undefeated in 1922 and 1923. But they did have a tie game in each of those seasons.

Thanks. It's still undefeated, just not unbeaten & untied. I doubt the Pats can go 16-0 again.

A gimme: Tony Gonzalez will set matters straight by burying the last of Shannon Sharpe's career TE receiving records (total yardage).

Westbrook will break the single season record for receptions by a running back.
Going off the top of my head, does Larry Centers currently hold that? One hundred and...something?I'm thinking 103 for some reason.
you are correct sir, 101 in 1995, LT2 had 100 several years back and Centers had 99 the year before he had 101. Westy had 90 last year and he missed a game so you never know.

Centers had 101 receptions for 962 yards and 2 TDs in 1995. He also had 78 rushes for 254 yards and 2 TDs. Tomlinson is second with 100.Westbrook is not going to break that record.

I think the Hester record as others have said will go.

Here's to hoping that the first year out of retirement, someone breaks Strahan's phony sack record. :goodposting:

I dont know if he's going to necessarily break any records other than Browns' records, but Braylon Edwards should produce a spectacular season this year. It'll be his 2nd season now with Anderson, and the guy is becoming pretty dominant entering his prime years. Winter months may hinder his #s late, but I think early he's going to produce off the charts #s.
