Who's gonna eventually be rb for Packers? (1 Viewer)

I think we should probably wait to see Benson against someone other than the best run D in the league before we close the book on him. Not that I'm particularly optimistic, but still. SF run D is like a brick wall out there.

Agreed. He'll have better days. This year it will be Benson. Who else? He won't be that good but Starks has never been able to stay healthy so it will be Benson by default. But the Packers really don't have the answer for RB on the roster currently.

This is my take. I think they keep a vet like Benson in there because he's not going to hurt them as they don't really need to move the ball much on the ground. He can pickup a blitz and run for 3.5. Just have to hope he pops in some cheap td's to have some decent value because even though he might have some holes he's not fast/shifty enough to break big runs.

I think Benson for the first half or so, but I see him hitting the wall at some point and Alex Green getting more involved.

But agreed, if Green doesn't show much, next year they draft/sign someone.

If none of the current guys pan out, they might grab somebody off a practice squad, just like they did with Dmitri Nance two years ago. I think any RB who can block and run at the league average would get a look.

Hey who's leader in total yards out of teh backfield right now?

Randall Cobb?

Houston ran an offense like this with Jim Casey (technically a FB/TE) last year vs the Saints and it was incredibly effective.

Benson

SF is a good run defense and the Pack don't run block well. Benson will be a decent play v. teams with average to poor run def

TBD

(To Be Drafted)

If you were asking about this year, a hydra-looking RBBC. Basically anybody that can run the ball without fumbling - maybe even snag a few fans that look like football players out of the stands of Lambeau...some guys too - and they'll put them in pads and say "have at it")
