Whos watching Browns/Eagles (1 Viewer)

I watched some of the first couple of series. Hmm what can I remember at the moment.

First drive - the local tv broadcast was glitched - we only got sound with no video for a while. The Eagles drove from their 20 to the red zone. Then on first and goal at like the 1, Brodney Pool made a fantastic stop by basically dragging the ball carrier down himself just like a foot from the goal line. On second down, the Eagles tried to run behind the left tackle, but Wimbley annihilated their left tackle, shoving him three yards back. The ball carrier fell down on the carcass on his own LT and they lost like 5 yards. On third down, the Eagles probably could have got a passing TD but they failed to execute, with a couple eagle WRs getting tangled up and a poorly thrown ball. Field goal.

Hmm who stood to me on offense for the Browns. Jurevicius made a nice tough catch as he got hit. The OL blew open some nice running lanes and Droughns barrelled thru them once or twice.

Lots of penalties too.

Can't remember anything else right now. The second team came in.

 I'm watching it now. Nice catch by Baskett, little else on offense. Darren Howard has been playing well on D.

Frye looks putrid.

Wimbley was especially impressive. In just two series we was smacking their LT around. He forced a holding penalty at one point and basically blew up the 2nd and goal run.

Actually he annihilated LJ Smith, but the D-line for Clev did look good none-the-less.Droughns looked good as well, forgot to mention that in my other post. With all the hype (or lack of it) for theit o-line, most should be able to steal him a round later that you could two weeks ago.

Great catch by Baskett. Eagles are out of RBs after Mahe got a concussion. I think they have 2 fullbacks playing running back now. Defense looks leaky as well but they've held on and kept the Browns from scoring. Not a great outing by the Eagles but not bad considering the players sitting out.

Browns sleeper D or Eagles looking bad?

The whole "drove down the field with ease but couldn't put it in the endzone" reeks of Patriots D.

The Browns will have a good defense this season, this will definately be the strength of the team. Their offense, if tonight is any indication, could be terrible :(

So....

Westy has a sprained foot, Moats has a sprained knee, and Mahe has a concussion.

Does this mean that if I draft Westy later this month, I should save 3 more roster spots for backups?

ok, he's getting short stuff. The Browns are taking no shots down field, which will kill them.
 Do you think this is indicative of the way that offense will look during the season?
No, I think they wanted to get Winslow a couple early balls since he hasn't played in so long. There was talk of creating mismatches with Winslow by lining him out wide this offseason, so as he knocks the rust off I bet we'll see him more involved.

Just got back from a local dive sports bar that still has an 8ft dish. They got on to a local Philly station but it was completely black no sound/ picture 60% of the time. I cant believe in this day & age, with the demand for the NFL it is impossible to watch every game. :wall:

Anyways, I wanted to know from any Philly :homer: 's if Bunkley saw any action tonight.

I'm affraid so. All I know is they have weapons on offense, but the Browns are notorious for dinking and dunking, and it looks like this year may be no different. The only pass I have seen the Browns even attempt over about 8 yards was to Northcutt who had run out of bounds before he came back in. It was about a 15 yard pass. Still no long passes in the second half.

I'm just looking at gamecast and it appears that the Eagles just want this game to end. They're trying to run the clock out with 2 FBs and a guy they signed off the street a couple days ago. On their latest possession, they ran the ball 10 staright times, 8 of those to the new guy, Marty Johnson.

It's tough to run the clock out when you have 4 RBs injured (don't forget Bruce Perry).

Sprained foot. Not the same foot as last year and not a Lis Franc.ETA: I guess that's five counting Mahe. I wasn't even counting Buckhalter because I'm just assuming he's done. I hope I'm wrong, but....

Nothing serious. Swollen foot. Opposite foot of the Lis Franc injury he suffered last year.

I was surprised it took so long for me to get a look at the Browns offensive rookies. When Wilson and Harrison finally got on the field in the 4th Quarter they produced. Hopefully we will see a lot more of those guys as the preseason goes on because the Browns need some explosive players on offense and I think they both could be.

How about J. Harrison? I see he has 2 attempts for 13 yds so far AND a receiving TD! Does he look legit?

saw the end of it.

Travis Wilson had a nice extend and catch, ball was a bit overthrown.

Lang Campbell looked decent at QB for the Browns, i know, it was against scrubs, but i gotta take any bright spot i can find with this group. :bag:

Thanks - looking at the play by play on NFL.com it did not seem as if he was in until the second quarter (which had me worried...)

Let's see the Browns 1st and 2nd team offense was shut out. Charlie Frye averaged just over 3 yards per pass attempt. KW2 averaged 3.5 yards on 2 receptions. The Browns defense allowed McNabb, Garcia and Chang to complete nearly 80% of their passes (16/21) and 9.8 yards per attempt...all of this without Westbrook.

It's going to be a(nother) long season in Cleveland.

Wimbly was going against tiny little LJ Smith and he did blow him backwards badly (do not mistake LJ Smith with a left tackle!). LJ didn't even try to get low and block him. If that is how LJ plays at the goalline, don't expect to see him out there anymore. And I think he gave up the tackle on the play before.McNabb looks unbelievable. He is a solid pick, I don't care who his WRs are.

Did Reggie Brown get to play or did they keep him out tonight? I dont get to see game until midnight
Brown did play. I searched through the play-by-play for the game and he showed up exactly twice, both on the same play:3rd and 16 at PHI 14 (2:23) D.McNabb pass to L.Smith to PHI 31 for 17 yards (L.Bodden).

PENALTY on PHI-R.Brown, Offensive Pass Interference, 7 yards, enforced at PHI 14 - No Play.

Penalty on PHI-R.Brown, Illegal Block Above the Waist, declined.

Nothing else, no targets or catches. Not a very impessive outing for him...again.

Agreed. On the telecast, Jaws was raving about McNabb - about his composure & accuracy.

You're not too far off...westbrook is talented but has yet to play in more than 12 games in a season

He is far from durable IMO, but he played 15 games in 2002, 2003. He also played 13 games in 2004, before being rested the last two weeks after Philly clinched home filed advantage.

So in 3 years he missed a total of 3 games. Last year was the first season in which he missed multiple games.

Frenchy I love watching the Browns stinking out the joint as much as anybody but this was the first preseason game. You can't base anything on this game. Last year Roethlisberger had a horrible preseason and came out on fire week 1 of the regular season. You also have to consider that this was Philly's second game so of course they aren't going to be as rusty as the Browns. Bottom line is this: preseason games, especially the first one, mean very little.

stinky bait.but... as bad as the first half sounded on the radio, the Brownies did only give up 3 points in the first half.it's pretty obvious this team still needs a lot of depth.
