The Jets are getting killed, but my point is the same -- Leon Washington is taking them down the field, they gave him the ball 4 or 5 times in a row, he was running well, and wasn't tired -- they just came out of the end of third quarter TO -- and the play call is to some fullback who the announcer says has 3 or 4 carries all year -- and he promptly fumbles.
Seems like lots of teams do this -- getting cute inside the 10. The Falcons break out everything short of the statute of liberty when deep in territory, the Jets give it to a guy with no carries, the Eagles have given it to Buckhalter instead of Westbrook, etc etc etc -- it just makes no sense to me. Why do teams have to get all cute -- are they afraid of just pounding it into the end zone?
