Why do you love FF ? (1 Viewer)

This is why I do.

Live (ish) draft going on in a Keeper league.

By ISH i mean we are doing it on MFL, but not int he same room. Just like Mr Kraft and Mr Jones are not in the same room in New York.

Cell phone in one hand. 7 browser windows open. Trade offers flying. Is 2.08 worth 5.06 and 6.06? Where do I want to be in Sept? Where can I in the cold light of realism expect my team to be in Dec? If that is bad, how can i play to next year?

Cell phone is vibrating, web sites are updating...Did Andre pull a minor groin or is he China Doll? Check my cell, counter the trade and sit....

waiting for the cell to change or do I draft now.

Enter my pick, put in my comment, hover over the submit button and just then the cell goes off......

I will never own a team, even if I buy a share or two of the Packers, this is as close as I get....

Damn, I love this game.

peace

Ha ha. Good post. Sounds like a blast.

I'm in it for the competition, testing my football prediction skills and having fun with like-minded people who love football.

I love when leagues are active, I like the trash talk, the trading, and the competition. If the league isn't active I want to fly to each persons house and punch them in the face until they promise to log onto the site more than once a week.

i love it because i get to crush my opponents see them driven before me and here the lamentations of there women brohan

I don`t love it anymore..not sure I even like it. After more than 20 years of playing..sometimes in 3-4 leagues I went down to one league last year. I was in a hardcore 14 team league for 15 years with the same guys. When the members kids started getting older teams started dropping out and we replaced them. Then last year the league folded because many of the guys were just burned out. Pluds it was so bad that I would want the Lions to lose if one of my players was scoring the winning TD agaunst them.

I finally realized it was consuming and ruining many great fall Sundays. So I got out of all my high dollar leagues and now only play in one 100.00 league for fun.

Last year I had way more fun because I did not care as much. I would not be checking my phone every 5 minute while golfing or at a party.

I love it because I can no long play sports due to medical issues but I can still dominate in fantasy!

Love football but when my favorite team (KC) is out of the picture half way through the season it gives me another reason to watch every NFL game.

A dear friend passed away today after a struggle with Cancer.

We were coworkers for 2 years back in the 90's. That's when I started our FF league. Six of the original 10 are still in the league today even though many have gone in different directions.

Terry was one of the originals and was a great man with a great sense of humor. Last week he was in the semi finals and still submitting his lineup. He laughed and shook his head when we asked him if he wanted to sit Aaron Rogers that week.

A few years ago he almost left because of some conflicts during that season. I'm glad I talked him into staying so we all got to enjoy his company for a few more years.

People sometimes laugh at folks that play FF, but it's more than just a game IMO. It's about friendships.

It's about raising the interest in football for me. Die hard Eagles fan, always was and always will be. Fantasy Football raised my interest in other teams and what's going on. I think I experience a greater involvement of football and games because of FF. I never cheer for my team to lose, however, I do cheer for the game to be high scoring with my birds winning!

1. Competition - you get to match your football IQ against others. Hopefully against other knowledgeable opponents.

2. Camaraderie - it's a connection point with friends whom you otherwise might lose touch with. Message board comedy can be gold with the right group.

3. Exclusivity - every player gets his "guys." There is no overlap in picks, meaning you don't have to share your glory with others in the same league. It's so damned rewarding watching a sleeper pick blow up and getting to gloat about your "scouting" ability.

4. Relevance - my favorite team has mostly been in the dumper since 2002. Fantasy football kept my head in the NFL game during that stretch.

5. Excitement - from draft prep, to the draft itself, to weekly nail biters, to the playoff run, to the playoff matchups, there's a lot to get pumped about.

6. Gaming - generally, we all have at least a little something on the line in terms of "donations" and "prizes."

bigdave i am sorry about your loss of your friend and i hope that he is smiling down appreciating that someone thinks of him and the good times with him so good on you and i hope that you win one for him this year take that to the bank brohan

Straight Dynasty League

Preseason is great because you get a chance to watch your developmental players shine.

Offseason is fun because you can trade to keep things interesting and fresh.

Collecting rookie picks so watching college football is more fun.

I used to do many keeper, dynasty and redraft leagues every year but for the past 3 years I've been in only ONE league, a dynasty. I have a group of 25 players that I follow and root for which in a way makes me feel like I'm in 7th grade again enjoying football like a kid.

Thanks guys. We engraved the trophy with his name this year. And, we're asking his 17 year old son if he wants to take over his dad's place in the league. Hopefully he does.
