Why does Vick hate Celek? (1 Viewer)

Da Guru

Fair & Balanced
With the non-looks that Celek gets you would think that Celek killed one of Vicks dogs or something. Celek goes from being the leading pass catcher on the team in 2009 to a total non-factor in 2010 with Vick at QB. Vick always used the TE in Atlanta and made Crumpler are very solid TE for FF. What gives?

Why throw to the slow TE when you can hit your far superior play-making WRs and RBs at will?

Celek remains in to block a lot more, due to the revolving doors at Oline. With Desean, Maclin, Avant, Lesean all a year older and that much better/familiar with the offense, Celek is no longer as much of a target.McNabb was the QB last year.Vick was not as good of a QB in Atlanta as he is now. He is allowing for plays to develop rather than force it to his TE or run.Crumpler was a better TE than Celek is now. Crumpler was the best receiver on that team.

I don't think the Celek/Crumpler comparison is necessarily valid.

When Vick was in Atlanta, Roddy White was just getting his feet wet, and he had no other viable receivers other than Crumpler.

Now he has two very good receivers in Maclin and Jackson to throw to. Both guys get down the field, where Vick does the most damage.

All the more reason to have Celek run short routes where there is tons of open space for a quick bailout.
He's more inclined to just dump it off to McCoy. I haven't seen too many Eagles games, but is Celek staying in a lot more to block?

Vick LOVES Celek because he blocks those mean pass rushers trying to get to him back there in the pocket. Without Celek, Vick would only have 20, maybe 25 seconds to make reads and decide to throw or run instead of the 30 - 35 seconds he has now on every play.

:bag: Also, Vick is very short for a QB and because of this, he often struggles to find passing lanes on intermediate routes like Celek is most likely to be running. In Atlanta, he still targetted Crumpler a lot because he was the best weapon he had in the passing game.In Philly, Vick has much better weapons on the outside and out of the backfield in McCoy. And the Eagles do a great job of allowing Vick deep drops, giving him better throwing lanes and time to get the ball to his speedy playmakers.

Celek is officially the 6th man on the offensive line now. Sure it sucks in Fantasy Football but in real life football he is helping his team win games.

I like to think come playoff time (real life Playoff time) the Eagles use him more as a reciever and catch some teams off guard.

Seems very similar to what happened with John Carlson in Seattle - promising receiver that became a more permanent fixture of their respective teams' OL.

I agree, but a few times last night Celek released and was wide open in the middle of the field. Is 5-50 and a TD every other week or so asking for too much? Just a little slice of the pie..some wealth distribution. These goose eggs are hard to take.
