Why it is Great to Live in Minneapolis (1 Viewer)

I've lived in five other states and if you can withstand that 3-6 week period of absolute bitter, painful cold, it's a wonderful place to live. The summers here are second to none. The key is to get a "winter" hobby to get you outside and active, (snowboarding, skiing, ice fishing, etc. )

Because the Twins REFUSE to let the dome go away without one more playoff run!!!

:lmao:

Just got back from the game.

I'm a Sox fan, but man, that was an awesome game.

Seward Cafe is the best breakfast. It is a coop, but dont call it that, or else you will confuse everyone (Seward Coop is a grocery store down the street)

I'm told best breakfast in Minneapolis is Al's (I think that is what it is called) in Dinkytown. True/False??
"Best" is a tough term, but I'd say False. It's an experience and worth checking out, but there are a number of places (the Seward Co-Op comes to mind) that I think have a better breakfast. And if you're feeling absolutely like a calorie pump, the Sunday brunch at Famous Dave's in Uptown is $20 for all the brunch food you can imagine plus tons of cooked meat. It works out well if you get there around noon during the NFL pre-game so that you have digested some and can reload on some wings at halftime before they close up the food. But why is it great to live in Minneapolis? You have great and friendly people. The difference between Minneapolis and the comparable major metros that I've lived in is significant. When a store clerk asks, "Can I help you?" that's actually what she means, not, "Can I force something onto you to make a sale?"You have a thriving arts community. MSP has the highest # of theaters per capita of any city in the US other than NYC.You get all 4 seasons (although sometimes spring and a fall are only about a week each). None of this is California/Arizona/Florida warm and less warm.... hot days in the summer and snow cover in the winters.A large number of lakes and parks within the city and very easily accessible.Surdyk's: one of the best wine stores I've ever been to, bar none.
Is Al's the very small place in Dinkeytown? I was at a very very small one counter place about 4 years ago. I wonder if that was the place.

Scalp some tix and see the Twins at Target Field - home opener series, and I'll be there in Stand 118 at my side job slinging some Murray's steak sammiches :banned:

Have you ever been? Are you staying in St Paul or Minneapolis? What are you looking to do? These things would be (some are) on my list for this weekend.

Walker Art Museum and Scultpure Garden.

A fun band is playing at First Ave on Saturday night (Cut Copy).

Take a tour of Surly Brewing.

Go see the Twins.

Rent a bike and cruise up and down the river and around the lakes.

Tomorrow will still be warmer than we saw a couple weeks back. Really it's not much different than 115F in the desert climates; you stay inside.

Gotta say the food scene in Minneapolis is very, very good.

Great town!

Been there a few times for conventions, I agree some good food and a couple good bars around the center.

If you are walking around though make sure you are in your hotel by sundown. We were at The Hyatt, got sketchy real fast.

That North Loop area had tons of great spots. Cool vibe up there. Had a few excellent meals and saw a bunch more spots I was interested in.

I was about a mile South. Was dead down there outside of a couple bars.

I really like the area. Not going to get into what was going on in the streets. We were told at The Hyatt to be aware and careful in the hotel area. And this is where all the nice hotels are.

It was cold so maybe the creepers stayed inside 😀

Also got a Jucy Lucy at Matt’s. That was pretty good.
