Why no love for Will Franklin? (1 Viewer)

I'm curious to know why there's no love for Will Franklin in the Footballguys.com rankings? Everything coming out of camp sounds positive - currently ahead of J Webb, and is battling D Darling for the #2 spot next to Bowe.

IMO - as far as opportunity, he's probably in a top-5 spot: Hardy, Thomas/Kelly, E Bennet & Franklin. Granted, KCC's QB situation would also rank top-5 muddiest/ugliest.. but is that the only reason?

Not all starting QBs and WRs are created equally. In a word - Croyle.

I think ranking a day 2 rookie WR #36 may even be a bit high, and I like what I've seen/read about about Franklin.

You have Earl Bennett 19th and his QB situation is no better than Franklin's...I tend to agree with the OP, Franklin has been inching up by board with the good camp news. We were disappointed when Franklin left the Shrine practices with an injury, but he lit up the workout numbers, and has been getting nothing but praise. 4.37 40 at the combine, 40.5 vert and 10'11" broad on his pro day, and he's a rocked up 215 at 6'01/2". He wasn't a true #1 at Missouri because of guys like Jeremy Maclin, Chase Coffman, and now Cleveland Brown Martin Rucker, so there is definitely potential for him to surprise because he wasn't featured in college, and he has definitely has the physical ability to hang.

Didn't click through the link - thought we were talking redraft, not just rookies.I can see why he gets some love now, and I probably should have him in the Top 40.

Do you have the same reservations about Lavelle Hawkins and Keenan Burton, also fourth rounders? What about late third rounders, and now technically 2nd day picks, Andre Caldwell and Mario Manningham?

Just revised the bottom portion of my rankings. Burton and Hawkins also received bumps upwards. Thanks for the heads up to the OP.

Like Jeff I mistakenly did not click the link, I thought the OP was referring to redraft WR's, not rookie rankings.36 does seem quite low for Franklin if we're talking rookies only. A quick breeze through my rookie rankings would have a...Franklin/Burton/Simpson/Mario/Doucet/Hawkins ...tier in the mid 20's. I like these guys more than several of those drafted before them - Avery, Thomas (pre injury too), Caldwell, Jackson, and Sweed.

I think the 36 is reflective of Fraanklin pre-summer and early training camp and honestly about where I saw him go(if not later) in rookie drafts. While physically talented he did not put up gaudy numbers in college nor showcased himself at an all-star game. He does have early opportunity in KC to do something, so moving him up makes sense now. you still may be able get him in early to mid 3rd in these later rookie drafts.

just looking aboveit seems all the "opportunity" WRs have inexperienced/underperforming QBs on bad offenses (with only Wash close to average)

Forgive my ignorance, but what is OP short for? Also, what is the consensus on Eddie Royal, DEN? Again, rookie / Dynasty...

I like Franklin a lot. The rankings are assuming non-ppr and most have him 31-33 which is mid/late 3rd. That sounds right to me. I think Franklin has a ton of talent. It should be interesting to watch play out.

I watched him at Mizzou for a long, long time. He's not as good as you think he is. He needs to run routes better, and needs to be able to make the unspectacular plays. He has a great highlight reel, but it's misleading.
