Why was LT mad after the game? (1 Viewer)

i can't believe this thread is still going.
agreed. It doesn't help that Mike & Mike had the just shut up thing going on the radio this morning either.
i heard that but i missed the results. who should shut up more?
I love LT, but the he kept it going even the next day. He needs to drop it and move on. He had a major beef with one player on the field, I think it was Hobbs, I saw him shake hands with Faulk and graham on his way off the field.

You stay classy, San Diego!
I've just skimmed this whole thread and not once did I see the mention of "when" Merriman chose to do his "steroid shuffle".1st qtr. / 8:16 / 3rd and 3 / Brady drops back to pass, throws the ball just before Merriman gets to him and knocks him down...incomplete pass. Merriman does the dance for a "QB hurry"....it's no wonder the Patriots were stewing to rub Merrimans nose in it..As far as LT goes, the field goal attempt came with .08 on the clock. The Patriots probably thought the game was over when the kick didn't get out of the end zone...and they rushed onto the field, celebrated, removed their helmets, and did the "steroid shuffle"....before the game actually ended. (.03 on the clock) :D So I don't blame LT for being frustrated.

it also looks like he was looking to seek out the appropiate camera angle for his dance too... Whatever...Good game chargers and pats, sorry that the actions by a few has caused this much hub-bub...

I am sure this has been covered, but I am not going through 10 pages of material.

Are you really classy if you have to tell everyone how classy you are? Lame.

Every single person that reads this has done some over the top celebrating or rubbed it in someone's face in their day. It makes you feel damn good. Hopefully we don't have to see Merriman's stupid dance anymore. Too much to ask for?

Quit crying LT.

Am I the only one that was watching the game? The taunting from the S.D. players was relentless. Two wrongs don't make a right - but, if you dish it out, you better be ready to take it.

"[The San Diego players] talked from the beginning to the end," linebacker Rosevelt Colvin said, according to the Union-Tribune. "We'll take the win."

I understand L.T. being upset that his teammates couldn't stay poised and focused - but c'mon, get over it. You lost - matter of fact, your team GAVE AWAY the game. How many times did we see the Charger players making lousy mistakes? Great way to deflect the attention on what it should be: The Chargers being overrated, and not ready for the spotlight.

The better, CLASSIER team & organization won on Sunday. Period.

Ok, here's my take on this crap, FWIW. How many players actually did Merriman's dance after the game? One or two maybe? The rest of the Patriots were just celebrating- maybe they didn't realize that there was still a couple ticks on the clock, who knows. The problem that I have with LT is calling out the whole team and the coach. Where does he get that from? If you want to call Hobbs an ### and say that he has no class, so be it- but the whole team and the coach? :goodposting: Taunting happens, and will always happen. Single players don't equal the whole team. Is Merriman a putz for doing the dance/sending J.Taylor popcorn? You bet, but that doesn't mean the whole Chargers organization lacks class. Was Hobbs getting a little carried away? Sure, but that by no means gives LT the right to go off on the whole organization. JMO.
The Patriots were penalized for taunting. It wasn't one guy.
The WHOLE team was penalized for TAUNTING? Or was it a delay of game for the celebration before time was expired on the game??

For removing helmets on the field. Not taunting.

:banned: So basically for helmets off during the celebration, not doing Merriman's dumb dance.

According to my sources, the history of this feud goes back to the Pats 41-7 loss to the Chargers last year.

Apparenty, the Charger players were being very disrespectful and mocking the Patriots promoting that they "wiped the floor with the Patriots," and "We are clearly the better team - their 21 game winning streak and run is over," and several other things that I cannot repeat, which are very derogatory.

This only continued throughout the game, as the team continued to mock, talk trash and proclaim the Patriots winning is dead. The taunting, dancing & trash-talking only inspired the Pats to step it up.

Great job motivating them, LT & Co. Now cry me a river...

Although I wish the Patriots didn't mock Merriman, he so had it coming.

Look, doing a dance when you make a tackle is ridiculous. That's your job. Doing a dance to celebrate a sack is ridiculous. Again, it's your job! Ever see Richard Seymour do a sack dance? Be happy, high-five? Sure. A dance? Gay.

Tha Patriots don't do touchdown dances, they don't choreograph pregame dances, etc. They don't shave LIGHTS OUT into their hair. I'm sure that's one of the first things Belichick says to any new Patriots... leave that playground crap on the playground. If it was Hobbs, I'm sure he got his ### reamed by BB after the game.

Getting back to Merriman... I played competitive sports all my life until getting too old to do it anymore, but the one thing I learned was... you save the talk for after the game. Ooooo, you just sacked the QB, wow. What's the score again? Ray Lewis does an equally ridiculous dance during introductions, but his team will be watching from home. T.O. getting a first down and doing an Eagle wing-flap in the Super Bowl? Gee, if only they hand out trophies for first downs!

I'll also give LT a pass on this one, as I'm sure emotions got the best of him (like they did Hobbs). Maybe he could convince his teammate Merriman to save the dancing till the game is over next year. Funny how the biggest trash-talkers/dancers (TO, Ray Lewis, Keyshawn, Merriman, the Chad, DeAngelo Hall) will all be watching from home this weekend... What goes around comes around.

Further, during the fourth quarter when LaDainian Tomlinson scored to make it 21-13 with eight minutes to go, they decided to act as if they were ahead by 20 points. With eight minutes remaining, the Bolts were celebrating on the sidelines and taunting the Patriots, and the clueless Schottenheimer did not tell them to get their heads back in the game.

I think the Patriots took notice, and decided to answer the taunting in the end.

Now, L.T., YOUR TEAM can do all of the "classy" taunting last year, this year, and during the game --- yet it's the Patriots players and head coach who are "class-less"? You are clearly the whiner of the year.

After no one cares about your first :boxing: trip, don't go on two more. This thread is STILL going because people like you post strong stuff like this to get a rise out of others. It's especially evident when you capitalize the word "CLASSIER." :bag: :lmao:

Why was LT mad after the game?
There is a strange misunderstanding as to LT's grievance. There's also a bunch of dishonest attempts to change the subject and the context in order to try and defend the Patriots last penalty. This has nothing to do with steroids, dances, or anything other than what the Pats did at the end of the game. Those of us who have bloodied our heads in the heat of battle at competitive levels of sport understand something many here apparently don't.During the battle, mock, taunt, trash talk, dance, celebrate, get in their heads, it's all part of the game. This is a given. It is part of the sport. Every player gets that. When the battle is done. Respect your opponent. Shake hands. Greet an old friend. Talk about the offseason. Congratulate both ways. Say "good game" and "good luck" next week or next season whichever it may be. DO NOT MOCK AND TAUNT AFTER THE GAME UNLESS YOU WANT TO BRAWL. This is a very simple rule of thumb carried from HS to the Professional level. I cannot recall that penalty being called after a game winning play ever, in any sport, in any game, at any level. Does anyone have an example of another team mocking and taunting the losers after the game and on the field? I'm sure it's happened before. It is a low class form of disrespect at a moment when you embrace your opponent and wish him well. The timing of the act is everything here and no one at FBG seems to get this. Have any of you guys played ball? What happens after the game? How would you react if you lost a very tough one with everything on the line and the winners taunted and mocked you. Me? I'd be a little angered. I'd tell them exactly what I thought of them, and no way would I shake hands. Imagine the Patriots little disrespectful low class antics at the end of a hockey game. Yeah right. I'm glad there wasn't a brawl. I'm also glad LT was the one to point this low class disrespectful garbage out. I'm also glad more Pats fans and sympathizers are exposing what many of us have struggled with for several years. Many of you have a void in the sportsmanship department. It's true of some fans of all teams, but the Pats percentage is particularly out of whack. Maybe it's the coach.* I don't know. *badjoke
True, true, true. Ever watch Boxing? They will kill each other and their families weeks before the fight, but, miraculously, after the 12th round as soon as the bell rings.........nothing but sweaty man love.

"A lot of times, in the heat of the battle or right after the game, you kind of say things sometimes that you want to take back," Tomlinson said. "I'm looking forward to seeing Bill and having him coach the game."
So I guess LT wants a mulligan for what he did after the "heat of the battle", yet he doesn't think the Patriot players that were celebrating should get one. :goodposting: Nevermind the fact that LT went on trashing Belichick for a number of days after the game while the Patriots players are crucified for somethiing they did seconds after the game.Ohhh well.

A month later and you still don't get it. Trash talk/taunting/mental games DURING the game = part of the overall game.Trash talk AFTER the game when it's time to shake hands and go seperate ways = NO CLASS.The Patriots behavior was classless and LT called them out on it. Belichick has shown his lack of class before (the Mangini stuff) and after (dissing Peyton) this game. He's obviously an ###.What we've found out about many of the Patriots and Belichick is that they don't win or lose with class. :coffee:

also, trash talking BEFORE the game is claseless.THEN when you lose the game you've been trash talking about for so long and you whine, it's childish.so we agree then.NE trash talking AFTER the game was classless.SD trash talking BEFORE the game and the crying AFTERthe game was both classless and childish.A month later and YOU still don't get it that both sides were at fault here.

So, Tomlinson obviously has zero class, since his trash talking went on for days? As for Belichick "dissing" Manning, I didn't realize it was required conduct to embrace every member of the team. But, here is Belichicks response to the unwarranted attacks in that case.

"Asked about the scene after the game, when it appeared he brushed off Colts quarterback Peyton Manning, Belichick said: "I talked to Tony [Dungy] after the game and congratulated him. Peyton, I didn't see, he kind of grabbed me, it all happened really fast. I saw Tony, I saw Adam [Vinatieri], wished him well. Saw [Dan] Klecko, wished him well. Ask any of them what happened after the game.""

http://www.boston.com/sports/football/patr..._season/?page=4

As for the Mangini incident, the Pats beat the Jets in NY, there's a cold handshake, and it was expected. The Pats lose, a cold handshake, and Belichick is the biggest jerk in the world. Then, in the playoffs, when obviously the two have talked and probably worked out their differences and the relationship is getting better, people like you instead focus on the fact that he had to move a cameraman. An incident that has to happen all the time in the on field melee, but this week it was different, because you couldn't say Belichick wasn't cold in his handshake. A bit of a double standard? But, it's only the same you're applying in giving LT a pass on the handshakes, and shaking hands with only a few players, but Belichick wasn't warm enough in his handshake with Manning, and was more interested in Dan Klecko and Adam Vinatieri, and held a virtual love fest with Dungy.

You're trying to rewrite history. Fine. Don't like the guy, but be honest in your criticism. Hold him to the same standard that you do others. You're calling LT classy for calling out guys for doing the same thing his teammate does every time he makes a play. They're doing it for winning the game. Which incident merits celebration? I say winning? Yeah, they mocked Merriman. When you show up people during the game, as he did with his 1 yard sack, it's going to stick. That's why it happened. Hold Merriman to the same standard. Is he classless for the "Steriod Shuffle" everytime he does it? Is it not to show up the other team each and every time he makes the sack? Absolutely. It has no other purpose.

People have moved from attacking Belichick for his handshakes to affairs. He's a damn football coach, not an ambassador of the UN. Keep it inperspective. When he gets up in a coaches face with the double pistol finger shoot after winning a superbowl, instead of a handshake, we'll talk about classless. This other stuff is just more sour grapes, and frankless a little bit of a lack of class coming out with the sour grapes.
